Description
Park House is part of the west wing of The Stable House (our family home), a Victorian stable block built 1888, and converted into a family home in 1970. The house sits in 20 acres of garden, fields and woodland including a Victorian kitchen garden. It is completely self-contained and comprises 4 bedrooms, sleeping up to 10; a large hallway, spacious kitchen, comfy sitting room and utility with separate toilet. It's very quiet with stunning views over the surrounding countryside. The space You enter Park House into a large hallway with a table and chairs as well as a space to sit and an area with toys and books. The main bedroom is up a spiral staircase accessed from the hallway; please be aware of this spiral staircase with small children. This is a lovely large airy room with a large double bed (king size) and two single beds and a wooden cot; From the windows you can see the tops of the trees. There is a large bathroom with a bath and separate shower. There is a second bedroom up the spiral staircase; this is a smaller room with a standard double bed and shares the same bathroom. There is an area with two armchairs to sit upstairs outside the bathroom between the two bedrooms There is a stairgate available to put on the wall just before the spiral staircase. All of the upstairs area is carpeted, apart from the bathroom. Downstairs there are two further bedrooms; both have standard double beds and ensuite shower rooms, both with lovely views out onto different aspects of the garden. One room has an additional single bed in it. *** You will have noticed that the total bed numbers could be as many as 11 if all the double beds have two people in them and you use all the single beds as well. Our preference would be for no more than 8 adults; the other 3 single beds could be for children or if you need separate beds for your booking. All beds will be made up but please specify the size and make up of your group. The kitchen is well equipped with all you should need with a range master cooker, American style fridge freezer, a cafetière and Nespresso pod machine as well as most of the store cupboard essentials. There is a large table in the kitchen. From the kitchen, there are glass doors opening out onto the patio which looks out over the fields; please do enjoy sitting at the outside table - the view is spectacular. Next to the kitchen, is a sitting room with sofas and armchairs. There is a Smart TV with a Roku which operates on the internet and has Netflix and other apps available on it. We have recently upgraded our internet to a 4G provider with deco boosters. However, please remember we are in a rural setting surrounded by beautiful trees and you may prefer not to turn on the TV at all. I can supply jigsaw puzzles on request! There is a large utility room just off the hallway which has a washing machine and some clothes horses/dryers, as well as an additional toilet. Nb there is not presently an electric tumble dryer. There is also a selection of games, DVDs and books, and a travel cot (in addition to the wooden cot) and highchair. Please bring your own bedding for the cot. We can sometimes supply extra cots and high chairs - just ask. Guest access The Stable House is set in 20 acres of parkland, paddocks and woodland. Park House is part of the west wing of The Stable House which was renovated in 2017. All guests have access over most of the grounds which is marked on maps supplied in the Information Folder. Park House does also have its own private garden. There are plenty of places to sit both inside and out to admire the countryside and the stunning collection of mature trees. There is a Victorian walled garden on the property within the woodland and you might be lucky enough to meet the occasional resident pigs! Please do not enter the old greenhouse as you will see the roof is not safe at the moment due to the winter winds. If you enjoy animals, there are plenty around - cattle in the farmers fields and our own entertaining Alpacas; three boys named Tinker, Ginger and Mattvei. There is also a very sociable donkey called Stanley Please do not go in the fields with the animals and talk to us about who you can feed and what they like. A hint - keep your apple cores and carrot peelings! We have cats and dogs as well; the dogs should only be out when with us but the cats may well come and say hello, particularly the black fluffy one called Hendricks; he will probably try to tell you that he is never fed and has nowhere to sleep - do not believe him! He and his older friend, Rio (black and white) have very comfortable quarters in the house with regular meals provided! Do feel free to give them a fuss. Please respect the few places where there are Private signs; mainly the garden and field area in front of the conservatory on the east side of The Stable House which is where we live. Please take care around the wood and walled kitchen garden. Do not go inside the old greenhouses but enjoy sheltering in the old barns outside the garden if it rains. There are also places inside the house, to sit with your laptop and work, if you must! In the Stableyard, you will see the newly restored and converted Stable Barn where you can find our Coffee Club. Please check with us whether this will be open during your stay. Please note due to COVID-19 restrictions and safety regulations, some areas may be marked off as Private. Please respect these signs. We also encourage you to take hand wipes or sanitiser with you if opening shared gates etc. Other things to note We run a Coffee Club out of The Stable Barn, in the old stable-yard, serving Barista coffee (including decaf) and various teas, and home made cakes and biscuits (with a gluten free option!). We’re open to guests and friends. We ask for a donation to cover the cost of the coffee etc plus a bit extra which goes to help support the work of the Aesso Orphanage in Burkina Faso, West Africa. Ask us about our visits there. Please make sure to check with us before your arrival when the Coffee Club is open as we often host private events The Stable House is known as a good place to retreat, rest, relax and be restored. We also host other properties which are all situated in the same 20 acres of land; they can be booked together to host a larger group but we would ask no parties please and please be considerate to other residents. The Stable House and Park House are next door to The Kilworth House Hotel and Theatre - a stunning 1880 country house hotel, and 2007 built out-door seasonal theatre; a lovely place to walk over for a coffee or a meal, or even a show at the right time of year. The property is part of our family home so we do ask that guests are respectful of our space and look after the house and respect the outside spaces marked Private. Thank you!
