The space Welcome to our home in the picturesque village of Grantchester, just a stone’s throw (or walk or bike ride) from the historic city of Cambridge. We are originally from Northern California & Hawai’i and when we travel to visit family in the Western US, we open the doors of our primary residence to guests seeking a unique English countryside experience. About the House Nestled in the heart of Grantchester, our home blends timeless village charm with the warmth and character of a family residence. You’ll be surrounded by the furniture, books, and art we’ve lovingly collected over the years, creating an atmosphere that is both welcoming and distinctive. Each room offers its own story, with curated pieces that reflect our travels and personal tastes, set against the backdrop of the village’s tranquil beauty. The house has Amazon Echo entertainment devices for music, podcasts, recipies, etc. There are four beds: - Master bedroom - this large room is upstairs, has a king bed, lots of storage for clothing, an ensuite bathroom with shower and beautiful views out to the fields in the back. Second bedroom - this large room is upstairs, has a queen bed, lots of storage for clothing, a big desk with comfortable work chair and lots of light from a skylight and windows looking out into the trees. This room shares a large bathroom with large bath and lots of storage. Third bedroom - this bedroom is upstairs, has a double bed, lots of storage for clothing, a desk with comfortable work chair and lots of light from a windo looking out into the trees and field next to the house. Corner sunroom - this room is downstairs off the living room, has a single bed, lots of light and beautiful views of the trees and fields. Relax in spaces filled with natural light, original artwork, and comfortable furnishings designed for both style and practicality. Step outside to explore Grantchester’s scenic meadows, riverside walks, wild swims in the River Cam* and renowned pubs just 3-5 minutes by foot, or take a short trip into Cambridge for world-class museums, colleges, and dining only 20 minutes by bike. There is plenty of free, off-street parking in front of and to the side of the house. A Note on Respect and Care Our home is special to us, and we ask that guests treat it with the same care and respect they would wish for their own. We’ve taken great care to prepare the house for your stay, and we kindly request that you look after the furniture and art, and follow our simple house guidelines. If anything is accidentally damaged, please let us know right away so we can address it together. Year round there are many people that swim in the River Cam, problem free. There are swimming clubs, athletes in training and picnickers cooling off during a hot Summer day, etc. AND - as with all wild swimming - its good to research. With that said - we provide beach towels for picnicks on the meadow and swimming in the River Cam. They are in the laundry room.
