The Dickens Room is cozy and comfortable; furnished for you with antiques, including a double brass bedstead with beautiful bedding, a loveseat, and a writing desk. The windows of this room are almost full-length, providing plenty of sunshine, but they also have drapes and original shutters. The Dickens Room shares a bathroom right down the hall next to The Cozy (which is where our guests will find snacks and beverages to enjoy in their rooms or in the downstairs parlours). The space The Samuel Dearing House (formerly known as The Dearing Mansion), with its stunning views of the St. Paul skyline, has been a westside landmark since 1885. This Italianate-Queen Anne home boasts nine fireplaces, gorgeous stained glass windows, stunning woodwork, unique lighting fixtures, and ornate architectural details. While spacious and commanding, the antique-filled Dearing House is also warm and welcoming, offering tastefully themed guest rooms and plenty of comfortable parlours. If you would like to relax outside, we have front and back porches, and a yard for your use. Your big decision will be whether you prefer relaxing in your well-appointed private room or enjoying one of our home’s comfortable parlours or lounging outside! Although limiting common spaces, we've designated one of the parlours to be available for guests' work space or relaxation. Guest access Guests are welcome to eat and relax in the kitchen, various parlours, porches, and lawns. Other things to note OUR COVID-19 REPONSE: We follow the CDC’s guidelines for continual cleaning and sanitizing of all entries/exits and common areas, as well as deep cleaning and sanitizing of all guest rooms and bathrooms between stays. We provide sanitizing products (wipes, hand gels, soaps) and ask guests to do their part. For the time being, we have (with great sadness!) suspended our guest breakfast service which we normally serve, mingling with guests, in the kitchen and dining room. We are offering pre-packaged breakfast items to be enjoyed in guest rooms along with coffee and tea, as well as lists of local restaurants that are known to provide excellent delivery service.
