Quiet guest suite in 1840s cottage in Mendips AONB

Offering a comfortable, well-finished bedroom along with free private parking, your own dedicated bathroom and separate dressing room/office. The perfect place for those who are looking for a base from which to explore! You'll share kitchen facilities with your Host and, if you're happy to bump into me occasionally, you'll be given the warmest of welcomes and as much privacy as possible during your stay. The space Situated in an elevated position in the pretty Somerset village of Compton Martin, you're about 15 minutes by car from Bristol Airport and 20 mins from the historic city of Wells. Bristol, Bath and Weston-super-Mare are also within easy striking distance, providing plenty of opportunity to enjoy the finest this part of the world has to offer. The house nestles in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty within the Chew Valley with the the ‘Lakes’ (Chew Valley and Blagdon) only a couple of miles away. There's also lots of walking to enjoy right on your doorstep as you’re surrounded by the beautiful Mendip countryside. There's an award-winning, extremely popular village pub just around the corner (less than 500 footsteps away) which provides breakfast, lunch and supper. Guest access Access to the property is via the rear door which opens into the kitchen area where there's a Belfast sink, fridge, kettle, smart microwave and toaster with teas, coffees, delicious hot chocolate and milk all provided. Please note: There’s no hob but the microwave also has a convection oven and grill function. I do use the kitchen, but generally keep myself out of the way as much as possible to offer you the highest level of privacy possible. Your guest suite is on its own level, accessed via a staircase part-shared by me (my bedroom is accessed from the first landing), just above the kitchen. Your bedroom includes a standard double bed, small wardrobe with internal light, a safe with drawers in the side unit as well as under one half of the bed. Your bathroom has a shower over the bath with towels provided while your dressing room / office includes a desk, easy chair and extra space for your belongings during your stay. The views from the windows look out onto open fields and there's all manner of wildlife, woods and open green spaces to explore. On sunny days, you’re welcome to use the garden. I’ll happily put out the patio chairs and a small table when the weather is fine. Both the garden and parking are located at the bottom of the end of the house. Some of the sunsets here are spectacular and, since there are no street lights in Compton Martin, the night skies are relatively dark. The Milky Way is often visible and we're occasionally treated to shooting stars. You will, however, need a torch to find your way home from the pub on dark nights... During your stay I always prefer to meet guests in person when they first arrive. Other than that, I occupy my own space in the house and will leave guests to enjoy their time here with as little interruption as possible. Other things to note There’s no TV but you can seamlessly stream your favourite films and programmes via a laptop using our superfast broadband. During your stay, you may encounter my ancient Patterdale Terrier Treacle. She's still fairly active, if a bit creaky, and very friendly. She stays out of the main house but you may hear her coming upstairs to bed with me at the end of the evening!
