Cottage on Cockleshell
Cottage on Cockleshell
Description
Welcome home to your holiday space in the beachside suburb of Jindalee. We have thoughtfully created beautiful, premium living spaces in our point of difference modern cottage using a pindan earth pallet and the West Australian Karijini gorges as opposed to the obvious choice of beach and ocean tones. We invite you to relax and reconnect with family and friends. Located a short walk from Jindalee Beach heading west and the mini hub of eateries fringing Butler Lake heading east. The space Yes! We're beachside but we wanted a point of difference so.... Instead of ocean blues and beach sand tones we have created our cottage to reflect the colours of the Karijini National Park, in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The cottage colours are mirrored in 7 professional photographs, taken by son-in-law, Yuhki Murayama. They are proudly displayed in the living area and master bedroom. They provide connection to water in the gorges and also our childhoods. The front courtyard, furnished with a cast aluminium table and comfortably cushioned chairs is a beautiful area to soak up the morning sun whilst you read the newspaper and enjoy a coffee or relax in the afternoon as the suburb winds down. When you enter through the front door there is a WORK SPACE on the right and a LIBRARY on the left. The front of the house makes the perfect quiet area, designated for communication or down time. Check in with folks at home, the office or surf the net, pick up a book, piece together a puzzle or learn some panda drum. The decor in both rooms was sourced locally and from our own travels throughout the World to add interest and an eclectic vibe. Hard cover travel books written and illustrated by Fremantle local, Jim Ward give a fun overview of WA and some of the places you might like to visit whilst you are here. In the hallway, pearl shells from Broome hang opposite three water colour artworks by local artist Fiona Faulkner-Cox. We love supporting a local! The master bedroom and ensuite are aesthetically pleasing and equally comfortable with the inclusion of a queen size bed, armchair and vintage cupboard from a Sunday School in Fremantle. The adjoining ensuite is supplied with soap and hair products and a hair dryer is hiding in the top drawer. The second and third bedrooms include a double bed each for the kiddies and the main bathroom and toilet separate the rooms. A hair dryer is hiding in the top drawer. A baby bath is available for infants. We like to spoil our guests with WALLAWA INDIGENOUS SKINCARE. These products are made in Australasia from indigenous active botanical ingredients sourced virtually from every part of Australia. The hallway opens into a spacious open plan LIVING, DINING and KITCHEN area with modern appliances including air fryer, microwave, coffee machine, toaster and kettle and an aptly appointed scullery which houses the dishwasher, fridge and washing machine. By now you would've noticed more eclectic inclusions accentuating our earthy vibe and a bygone era that we believe bring more peace and warmth to our cottage. The sofa was built to sink into whilst you catch your favourite Netflix movies or challenge the kids to a board game from the tv unit drawers. Oh, and dining won't disappoint around the solid Tasmanian Oak dining setting. A high chair is available for infants. Indulge in a cup of our ONE BRAND teas, coffee or hot chocolate, supporting fair trade. All areas are cooled by evaporative air conditioning and there is an efficient gas heater in the open plan living area. From this spacious area there is access to the GARAGE where there is an EV charging point and the PATIO where you can sit comfortably and enjoy a wine and cheese board whilst the electric BBQ is used to cook dinner. A perfect setting to enjoy the evening. We look forward to hosting you soon! Guest access If I'm not there to greet you, the keys will be in a key safe. The code will be provided on the morning of your arrival. Other things to note Cottage on Cockleshell is a short 12 minute walk to Jindalee Beach to the west and a short 5 minute walk to Butler Lake heading east. The suburb is slightly undulating with open space parks to enjoy a picnic or to kick a football. There is a footpath that travels both north and south along the beautiful coastline whilst you enjoy the fresh air. The cottage is conveniently close to numerous eateries including Turkish Kebabs, Indian, Thai, the Dome Coffee Shop and the Cornerstone Ale House and there is a Coles Supermarket for all your grocery requirements. Should you require health care we are closely located to Jindalee Medical Centre and Jindalee Pharmacy. For those who like to continue their fitness regimes there is also easy access to gyms. Ladies if you are here to attend a special occassion there is a hairdresser and beauty salon close by. When we advised the neighbours that we were opening the cottage up to Air BnB after the extensive renovations they were genuinely excited for us as they all enjoy the proximity to the beach, the parks and the surrounding restaurants and services. They couldn’t think of a better location for a holiday home, and of course, we agree. Many couldn't wait to see inside so they could tell their friends and family about it.
