"A scenic place loved by the people of Manyo" Miyataki is a small hamlet in Yoshino, the beautiful home of Manyō, which is a World Heritage Site and is also said to be "Japan's top cherry blossom viewing spot." Miyataki was once the site of the emperor's secondary residence, "Yoshinomiya," and is also a place steeped in history where the "Jinshin Rebellion" took place. Many poems praising the scenic beauty of Miyataki are included in the Manyoshu. This area, where the clear Yoshino River flows, is known as one of the best river play spots in the Kansai region, and it is crowded with many river play visitors during the summer vacation period. We decided to renovate a 100-year-old traditional house where my grandparents lived for many years as umbrella and lantern craftsmen in Miyataki and revive it as "Chouchin no Yado". Taking advantage of its location "right by the river where you can play", this accommodation is easy to use even for large groups such as multiple households or friends. We hope you will use it as a base for sightseeing in Yoshino, river activities, and BBQs while feeling the breath of history and nature. There is a private sauna and a water bath (tarai) in the courtyard. If you love saunas, please come and enjoy them. The space The charm of an old house and ease of use The charm of the old house, which is over 100 years old, has been preserved, and the bath and toilet have been renovated to make it easy to use. The lobby has a wide dirt floor, so you can store your bicycle indoors. You can also leave large luggage on the dirt floor. There are two Western-style bedrooms and two Japanese-style bedrooms, so you can choose between a bed or a futon. Because there are many rooms, it is suitable for groups such as families with small children, three generations, and friends. A private sauna is available. Combined with the Tarai water bath, this place is also recommended for sauna lovers. Other things to note Please see the House Rules provided in the building. We work together with the local community, so we would appreciate your compliance. ◆ About the handling of fire ◆ 　No smoking, including e-cigarettes, is allowed indoors or on the premises. Please also refrain from smoking on the road in front of the building as we receive complaints from neighbors. Use of fire, including fireworks and bonfires, is prohibited.　 　If we confirm that you have smoked, used fireworks, had a campfire, or used a barbecue (BBQ) on the premises, we will charge a special cleaning fee of 30,000 yen (tax included). ◆ About trash disposal ◆ 　Cigarette, fireworks and campfire trash cannot be disposed of in the facility's trash cans as it may cause a fire. Please take the cigarette, fireworks and campfire trash home with you. 　Please take the trash from the barbecue (BBQ) set (mesh, tongs, etc.) with you when you leave. You may dispose of food-related garbage (such as food waste and packaging) at the facility. If you leave behind trash from the BBQ set, you will be charged 3,000 yen (tax included) as a disposal fee. ◆ About using the Miyataki River Exchange Center (1 min walk, BBQ allowed) ◆ 　In 2026, it can be used from June 15th to the end of September.
