Ensuite double rooms in a peaceful refurbished ex-hotel, short stroll from Dumfries town centre, on same side of town as the Infirmary. Large private car park. Bus stop on doorstep. This is a self-catering house with 2 large & uncrowded kitchens shared with long-term tenants (peaceful professionals). Warm & comfortable rooms with double bed, storage, desk & chair. The space This house is peaceful (most occupants are professionals who work in Dumfries). The ensuites are wet-rooms with shower, wc and basin. Each guest has the use of the large shared sitting room and one of the two big shared kitchens, with their own food cupboard and a shelf in the freezer and fridge. We supply pans, cutlery, crockery etc. The kitchens are quite basic but have plenty cookers (3 in each kitchen) and are uncrowded (several occupants eat at work or work shifts, people often take meals back to their large rooms). Due to the nature of the house (shared with long-term housemates) it can't be as clean as an airbnb self-catering property which is empty and deep-cleaned between guests. This is reflected in our price, although the housemates are good at cleaning and tidying up after themselves. There is a weekly cleaner to do extra cleaning of the shared areas. The bedroom is very clean. We respectfully request that all guests clean up after themselves in the kitchen. We also request that guests are reasonably quiet, especially at night time. There's an iron and board and washing machines and dryers which are coin-operated at £3 to wash and £1 to dry (commercial machines - take large loads). We supply bedding and towels. The bedrooms / ensuites are clean on arrival. To keep rental costs reasonably low, we don't offer a cleaning service for guests' bedrooms during the stay and we expect the rooms to be reasonably clean and tidy on leaving. We expect guests to wash their own towels and bedding as required. Dumfries is surrounded by great countryside. We have hills, lochs, woodland, rivers, wonderful coastline and a great variety of wildlife - all relatively undiscovered by mass tourism. The house has a licence for multiple occupation and so is safe and complies with legislation and insurance requirements for a house with more than 2 unrelated occupants. The minimum length of stay is one month and, to comply with council legislation, we do a written agreement for this, with the end date as requested via this booking. If you enjoy living in the house and wish to stay long-term, we can offer a reduced rate for an extended stay. For anyone hoping to stay in Dumfries long-term, this is a great way to find out that you like the house and the housemates without a long term commitment. We offer great discounts for long-term stays and we have a choice of other shared houses in Dumfries to which you could move if requested. We don't live here but can usually come to meet you if it's a sensible time, or give you the door code to let yourself in if it's late. We would come to meet you the next day. We have a long-term resident who is available to deal with requests and problems. We are always at the end of the phone to help with any questions/problems. We like animals and will allow a pet if we believe it won't cause a problem for the housemates, for us or for the pet itself, but we really do need to be told about it beforehand and may well refuse entry if we have not given permission, beforehand, for the animal to stay here. The housemates are considerate and helpful and can give guidance on where to find shops etc.
