The Beach Shack

This quirky rustic beach cottage, full of shabby chic character & charm is approx 130 years old. Located on a stunning beach front at the foot of the Glens of Antrim on the North Coast of Northern Ireland on the Islandmagee peninsula. Tourist Board accredited. 45 mins from Belfast. 10 mins from world famous Gobbins tourist attraction & within easy reach of well known north coast attractions such as The Giant’s Causeway The cottage is a truly beautiful, peaceful, chilled and relaxed place, The space The Beach Shack is very unique space, over 125 years old this wooden cottage is situated right on the water’s edge, it has provided us with much needed solace over the years. It is a beloved family home, that within minutes of arriving at you will feel the stress and hassle of everyday life seep away! This place is good for the soul! It has a spacious open plan living/kitchen/dining area looking over the beach, Sea & Antrim coast. The 3 double & 1 king bedrooms are beautifully decorated in nautical colours & decor and you’ll find the same throughout. Sky Glass TV with full sky sports package & access to Netflix, Apple, Prime and other streaming apps We love to welcome family pets🐾🐾 There is multi fuel stove which makes it very cosy when a north wind is blowing! The kitchen is superbly equipped, you’ll find everything you need along with tea, coffee machine , sugar and a variety of condiments. Coffee maker & pods supplied. We kindly ask guests to bring slippers or indoor footwear as one of our house rules is to remove shoes at the door. It helps protect the wooden floors and the sand from getting everywhere! All bath towels, beach towels and bed linen provided. Shampoo, shower gel & body cream provided along with hand wash & hand cream. There is Sky Glass TV with full sports package and access to Netflix, Prime, Paramount, Apple TV, Spotify, utube Excellent selections of coffee table books and board games and outdoors games of Rounders, Croquet & snakes & ladders! Our son was left with an acquired brain injury after battling a life threatening brain infection aged 11, so as well as welcoming paying guests, we also welcome families with children with ABIs like our son for complimentary respite stays. It provided us with a safe haven during his illness in between hospital treatments and we wanted to be able to share it with others as it is a very special, healing place. You will find a warm welcoming, chilled cosy beach cottage with fairy lights galore! Unfortunately The Beach Shack is not available for rental during July & August, Easter nor December 23rd-January 7th Guest access Guests have access to the entire property and the beach in front of the property. Other things to note The Beach Shack is situated in stunning beach front setting, however the price we pay for our location is that we are approx 7 miles away from shops, about 10-12 mins in the car. A car is highly recommended for your stay as the peninsula is not well served with public transport. The golf club is beside us and has a bar & bistro (food Thursday-Sunday) open to non residents. Our nearest town is Whitehead, 9 miles away, from here is a train into central Belfast which takes 30 mins, from there you can take connecting trains to the rest of Northern Ireland and Southern Ireland. There is a car park in Whitehead that you can leave your car in and a local taxi Service. Guests may see a gardener working on the property during their stay.
