Watergate Cottage
Description
Charming country cottage with pretty garden on quiet lane in picturesque village of St Mabyn. The space Watergate Cottage is a charming, stone cottage located on a very quiet lane in the popular village of St Mabyn. It has recently been refurbished in a contemporary cottage style and has a secure, gated driveway and a beautiful, enclosed garden with seating area. The quaint community shop is a 5 minute walk away and the hugely popular St Mabyn Inn Pub only a few minutes more. The ground floor has a good-sized modern kitchen with a farmhouse table and a separate, cosy sitting room with 2 large sofas, TV and wood burning stove. A mezzanine level consists of a bathroom with bath, WC and double-sink vanity unit next to a separately accessed waterfall shower cubicle. The first floor consists of 3 double bedrooms ( 1 king and 2 standard doubles) and a small WC with hand basin. In the private, enclosed garden there is a patio with table, chairs and parasol. St Mabyn is a very pretty, highly-regarded village with a community shop/post office, the St Mabyn Inn (a very popular and lively pub) and a large children’s park. The village is situated on a hillside and there are several footpaths which lead to walks in open countryside with some spectacular views. Watergate Cottage is perfectly situated for exploring the stunning North Cornwall coast. The beautiful Port Isaac is 6 miles away and Polzeath and Rock only 10 miles. Padstow is most easily reached via the Rock ferry which crosses the estuary throughout the day. Newquay, Tintagel and Boscastle are also worth visiting. If you would like to explore inland the stunning Bodmin Moor is only 6 miles away and there are fresh water pools and scenic walks at Delford Bridge. Lanhydrock National trust property is also a lovely day out and only 30 minutes away. The village shop is small but well stocked and the nearest large supermarkets are Lidl in central Wadebridge and Tesco (with petrol station) and Aldi just off the Wadebridge bypass - all c12 minute drive from the cottage. Places to eat - there are so many, but here are a few that we like. Please look at their websites for booking/opening times etc. St Kew Farm Shop 5 minutes away and good for breakfast, brunch and lunch. Seaview Farm shop and Cafe Fabulous hillside location overlooking the coast. Outside tables and a rustic, casual feel inside. Full English breakfast and cakes recommended. The Atlantic Hotel, New Polzeath Perfect for lunch, dinner and drinks with lovely terrace overlooking the beach from low cliffs. The Waterfront, Polzeath Great for a casual beach lunch or dinner beachside. Saltbox in central Wadebridge The best sourdough pizza you will ever have and also burgers, Asian style dishes and a bar. Regular live music in the evenings. The Stable at Fistral Beach, Newquay Amazing view over Fistral Beach, good music and atmosphere. St Mabyn Inn for a classic pub supper and drinks. Boscastle Farm shop and Cafe Fabulous hillside location with large outdoor seating area. Amazing homemade cakes! Worth booking for indoor seating.
