The Surf Nest is a unique coastal escape just steps from the Tasman Sea, with the majestic Mount Taranaki and its rugged ranges as your breathtaking backdrop. This architecturally designed and award-winning house is inspired by the raw beauty of the Taranaki landscape. Every detail has been crafted to make you feel at home, whether you're here to surf, explore, or simply relax. Wake up to the sound of birds and waves, with views of private surf breaks right outside your door. The space This compact house utilises cleverly crafted spatial devices to pack a lot of punch into a small place without compromising on the scale of the living areas. It is designed to have a small environmental footprint and sit in harmony with the natural landscape. Thoughtfully fitted out with quality modern interiors and furnished to a high standard, the space is modern and comfortable. The house is comprised of 2 sections connected together through a large enclosed breezeway. Overview • 3 bedrooms: one master bedroom with a queen size bed, one kids bedroom with a double bed (might not be suitable for tall adults), one queen bed with luxury bed linen and stunning view on surf breaks • Two full-sized bathroom with a toilet, a bath and a shower, and hot water of course. • An open plan, well-equipped kitchen with a fridge, kettle, toaster, oven, sink and all cooking essentials. • A washing machine and a dehumidifier. Please note there is no dryer. • A lounging area including a wall-mounted smart TV with streaming services like Netflix, etc. • A desk and lounging area on the mezzanine level of the guest unit, including a wall-mounted smart TV • Free fast and unlimited Wi-Fi. • Well insulated. There are heating panels throughout the entire house and a heat pump in the main unit OUTSIDE, there is: • An outdoor (covered) large deck with outdoor couches. We also provide a small folding table and chairs for outdoor dining and relaxing. • A traditional Finnish sauna that fits 4. For a true thermal experience, pair with a dip in sea. Guest access The Surf Nest is located in a rural area and we advise guests to have their own vehicle. There is no direct bus or public transport to the Surf Nest. Only a 10 min drive to Ōkato, 20 min to Ōakura and 35 min to New Plymouth, it is close to everything, yet feels remote. At the end of the public road, you will find a gate giving you access to our private community. Follow the gravel road down to the Surf Nest. Guests will have complete privacy and sole occupancy of the entire house and property during their stay. Although we won't be around when you check-in and during your stay, we are more than happy to assist our guests. Please get in touch if you need anything. Other things to note Please note some areas of the property are still being landscaped and occasionally you might see gardeners out and about on the property. If you don't want to eat out much, we suggest you bring a few food supplies with you. There is a range of large supermarkets on route from the airport and a small supermarket 10 minutes’ drive away in Ōkato and all main supermarkets in New Plymouth. Countdown and New World offer delivery here. Access to the mezzanine level in the guest unit is via an alternating staircase. It is not suitable for young children and some people with physical impairment or disability. The beach in front of the house is not a sandy one, it has big rocks/boulders. Very fun to walk onto at low tide. Some 'pools' are even created at low tide if you fancy a dip. @thesurfnest
