Grand Pic - a large gite set in the beautiful Aude countryside

Grand Pic is a self contained gite adjoining our house and situated in grounds of 8 acres. We are surrounded by rural countryside creating a safe haven for our guests to enjoy the pool and gardens in complete safety and security. This is the perfect quiet and peaceful location to enjoy the beautiful Languedoc countryside. At night there is no noise or light pollution to impede your view of the night sky or muffle the sounds of nature. The gite sleeps six but our smaller gite, Petit Pic, may also be booked allowing for groups of up to 10. Guests have use of a 10m x 5m heated pool equipped with sun beds, pool towels and inflatable pool toys and floats. The gite has a fully equipped kitchen and full laundry facilities. There is also a charcoal BBQ. Meals may be taken on the open air terrace overlooking the gardens or at a large dining table with ample room for 6. The property is situated in the heart of Cathar country and is just half an hour s drive from the World Heritage listed citadel at Carcassonne. It lies in the middle of the AOC Malpere wine region with many small producers close at hand offering the opportunity to taste and buy the local wines. Around the nearby town of Limoux you will find Blanquette de Limoux, a sparkling wine produced using the methode champenoise. For those who are looking for a more active holiday we are close to the GR7 hiking trail, and a short distance from beautiful walking trails in the French Pyrenees. Mountain bikes can be hired locally. Canoeing and kayaking is available on the River Aude, with a watersports centre in Limoux. More watersports activities can be found at the Lac de Montbel, along with a family beach with boats and pedaloes for hire. The lake is located a short distance from Mirepoix. Horse riding is available close to the property. We are also about one hour from the ski slopes in winter. Alternatively, if your preference is for a day at the seaside it is just over an hour s drive to the Mediterranean coast at Narbonne Plage.
