As its name implies, this cabin and retreat property offer guests a peaceful retreat and cool mountain getaway, deep in the woods and high atop Lookout Mountain in Alabama. This cabin has a front and back no-stairs entrance (4 ft+ ramp), 32” interior doors, and wide floor space in the bedroom and in the living room. Explore waterfalls, parks, shops, and restaurants. Relax by the rock fire pit or on the front porch with a cup of coffee, and enjoy views through a canopy of trees. Wildlife is spotted frequently on the property, and beautiful hiking trails are walking distance as the backyard of the cabin is part of DeSoto State Park. Renew, refresh, and be restored! **THE RETREAT PROPERTY** Not long after you turn onto the private road that winds through the retreat property, you will pass Coyote Cabin and then The Otter Box Cabin on your left (also listed). Soon after, you will see Black Bear Cave, also on the left, along with your own private parking area (2 cars max). Beside your parking area at Black Bear Cave, there walking ramp that leads to the front porch. At the bottom of the walking ramp, there is a small concrete pad for wheelchair access. You will appreciate the forest views from the covered porch area. There are 2 Adirondack chairs, and this is a great place to enjoy a cup of coffee or hot tea in the morning and take in the views :) Stepping inside the cabin, you will know your peaceful retreat has begun as you are surrounded by windows that reveal refreshing views through a canopy of trees. Be sure to look up and notice the beautiful wood ceiling that was built by the homeowners and upcycled from hurricane-weathered wood planks on Alabama's own coast in Baldwin County. Moving into the main living area, there are two comfortable recliners with additional floorspace consideration for our guests who require a wheelchair. There is a gas log fireplace for your enjoyment, and for movie nights in, there is a Roku smart television in the living room with fast Wi-Fi for streaming your own favorite channel subscriptions. Near the front door, there is a smaller dining table to allow for wider floor space consideration, and there are 2 chairs as well as a bench. In the kitchen area, there is a refrigerator, stove, microwave, 10-cup coffee maker, toaster, cooking pots, can opener, pans and utensils, dishes, drinking glasses, eating utensils, cooking spices, coffee mugs, and more. A full bathroom, also with a 32-inch doorway, includes a spacious step-in shower with a hand-held shower option and grab bar. Also in the bathroom is a stackable washer and dryer for your convenience. The primary bedroom has a 32-inch doorway, wider floor space and beautiful view through the glass door into the wooded backyard. There is a king-size bed with a 10" Dreamer, memory foam mattress and comfortable bedding to help you rest well. There is a ceiling fan and lamps with usb charging ports for your convenience. Guests will also appreciate the walk-in closet and Roku TV for streaming your channel subscriptions. In the primary bedroom, there is an exterior door that leads to a private back porch. There are 2 chairs for another great place to relax, and beautiful walking ramp that leads to the parking area. Near the cabin, you will notice a double hammock for an afternoon nap, and a river rock fire pit designed with your retreat in mind. You are welcomed to use any small pieces of fallen wood that can safely fit inside the fire pit, and firewood bundles are sold at nearby stores. Please only burn firewood, as the homeowners and guests roast food over this fire pit. Extendable roasters are located in a kitchen drawer for your convenience, so be sure to bring ingredients for s'more memories. You will be given access to a list of favorite attractions and restaurants! Waterfalls, national preserve, state parks, zip lining, hiking, picnicking, rappelling, horseback trail rides, canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, wild animal preserve, golfing, swimming, museums, glass blowing, making pottery, skiing (seasonal), unique local dining, antique shopping, scenic drives, and MORE! So that you can experience life on the mountain like locals, we provide our guests with a list of all the attractions and restaurants! Chattanooga is only an hour away - Birmingham and Atlanta are less than 2 hours away! **OUR POLICIES** You will receive an email to e-sign a vacation rental agreement and upload your photo ID before the reservation is complete. This retreat property is dog-friendly (small to medium dogs only - 2 dogs max), and a $69 pet fee is applied per dog for this home. Dogs must be leashed at all times. This retreat property does not allow smoking anywhere on the property. Quiet Hours 8pm to 8am. Exterior security cameras are located at this property. Parking area allows 2 cars max (unless host authorization) There is a $300 security deposit HOLD required for this retreat property. Guests will receive text and email communication from Peaceful Retreats prior, during and after each retreat. **GIVE-BACK** Peaceful Retreats gives back 10% of all revenue commission collected from reservations at Black Bear Cave to Friends of DeSoto State Park. DeSoto State Park borders Woodland Retreat at DeSoto, and our guests love to take advantage of the activities offered at the park. Friends of DeSoto State Park is a nonprofit organization with a mission dedicated to provide more resources to the preservation of the park as well as funds for future projects that will better serve those who enjoy the park. Guest access Once the reservation is complete, and 24 hours before scheduled check-in, Guests will receive an email from Peaceful Retreats with access to the retreat property.
