The River Retreat, right off of Hwy 50, is a short 10 minute drive from historical downtown Salida. This beautiful home sits just above the Arkansas River with stairs leading to the private riverfront property. Gold medal fishing, rafting, kayaking and swimming from the back door. Here you can get away from the business of life and recharge in nature, yet are so close to town. Hikes nearby and a great deck to just sit and let stress melt away as you listen to the sound of the river flow by. The space With 4 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms and a bonus loft area you will have plenty of space to spread out or gather together to catch up with your family and friends. You will love the variety of river and nature views you get from each room in the house. The living room overlooks the Arkansas River and surrounding nature. While in the open loft area you have an amazing bird's eye view of the river and it's the place to hang out, watch your favorite movie or read a book while you snuggle up by the fire. The deck is the favorite place to be! Listen to the sound of the river while you have a delicious meal or just sip some wine or coffee. The kitchen is fully loaded and has everything you need to make amazing meals. It has a beautiful gas stove with plenty of working space to do all your prep work in. **Please be aware that we limit the number of guests to 8 because we are on a well and septic. Private stairs take you to the river frontage where you can relax, fish, boat or swim (depending on river flow) in the Arkansas River. Truly, a one of a kind piece of property. You can go on a hike out the front door or drive across the river and have access to public lands and national forest, more fishing, and hiking. The River Retreat is located in a very small and quiet neighborhood of about 12 other homes. Salida, a short 10 minute drive away, offers many great activities such as the FibArk white water festival that has been happening since 1949, Art Walk, Bluegrass Festival, Brewers Rendezvous, Holiday Park & Christmas Mountain to name a few. On top of that you are close many of Colorado's famous "14ers" if you are wanting a high altitude hiking adventure. Monarch Mountain is only a 35 minute drive from the home where you can find beautiful downhill skiing. Many companies offer white water rafting down Browns Canyon, the Royal Gorge or Big Horn Sheep Canyon. You can also rent kayaks or inflatable kayaks (ducky) to float the river as well. Renting an inflatable kayak in Salida allows adventurers to paddle class II and III for 7 miles to your personal river retreat in Swissvale. Note that it is several hours to the house from Salida on the river, depending on river flow. So plan ahead and bring water. Book a guided fly-fishing tour in Big Horn Sheep Canyon, starting in Salida, and finish the day stepping off the raft at the back door of your personal river retreat. Guest access The entire house minus the garage and owner's closet. Other things to note *Unfortunately the water in all of Swissvale is very salty. We have a newly drilled well where we hit the mother load of salt 600 feet down. We provide 2 gallons to get guests started so be sure and bring along bottled water. *Please be aware that between May and July (fluctuates each year) with the spring runoff the water level of the river can be very high and dangerous. Please be aware of where your children are at and everyone should be cautious when next to the river.* To get to the river from the home you do need to go through the yard, out a latched gate and down two sets of stairs. Stairs can get icy in winter. Use caution. We are not responsible for injuries. *We limit the number of guests to 8 because we are on a well and septic. More than 8 guests at a time are extremely hard on both the septic and well water usage.** *As much as we personally love pets they are not allowed. Thank you for understanding and honoring this rule.
