The barrels, as the unique, curved holiday accommodations on the Wangelin garden grounds are internally called, were built by a dedicated team led by Professor Gernot Minke. Completed in 2015, these guest accommodations are an extraordinary masterpiece. They are the first self-supporting barrel-vaulted building made of straw bales to be approved in Germany. Towels and linens are included. Since it can get very dark here in the countryside in the evening, a flashlight is useful. In the immediate vicinity is the Wangelin Garden, one of the largest herb gardens in Mecklenburg. It has grown into a special place since its inception and is enriched by sustainable, natural buildings, including your accommodation. As a guest, you only pay 1x admission and can use the garden during your entire stay. The nearest shops are in Plau am See, Meyenburg and Lübz. Unfortunately, pets are only allowed in our accommodation Gärtnerinnenhaus. Room 4 is a double room for 2 people with a double bed. A sofa (130 x 200 cm) can be used as an extra bed for smaller children. The 17 sqm double room is one of five holiday rooms in our guest house built from straw bales and clay. It gives the visitor a special living feeling through the vault-like interior design. It has a separate entrance from the outside and is equipped with a private bathroom (shower and toilet). The accommodation is simply equipped, because nature is our priority. The walls are plastered with clay, the floor was made with lime. The interior walls are made of clay bricks. Warm, coordinated natural colors give the room an almost Mediterranean atmosphere in which guests feel very comfortable. The double bed (160 x 200 cm) was handmade by a wood designer from parts of ancient looms, in combination with metal and stone. In the integrated mini kitchen you can prepare your breakfast. Refrigerator, kettle, toaster and dishes are provided. Unfortunately, for safety reasons, no separate hot plate is available. However, from May to October, we also open the summer kitchen on the premises for guests who do not have cooking facilities in their accommodation. In the summer kitchen there is a fully equipped kitchen and other seating options. For maximum relaxation, there is no Internet access in the rooms. Wi-Fi access is available in the café of the Wangeliner Garden and is accessible during the day. Unfortunately, pets are only allowed in our accommodation "Gärtnerinnenhaus".
