Smugglers Cottage

A peaceful and picturesque 4 bedroom thatched cottage, situated on the banks of the river Dart in the beautiful South Devon village of Dittisham. At high tide you can enjoy sailing to your door (or paddle boarding!) and fishing from the terrace. At all times of day, and in all seasons, you can take in the comings and goings of boats, canoes and the fantastic local wildlife, including the inquisitive seals who sometimes pop up right by the terrace to get a closer look at guests! The space The cottage has a spacious entrance hall, with plenty of coat hooks and space for wellies, walking boots & shoes. Off the entrance hall is a cosy sitting room with a large inglenook fireplace and wood burning stove. There is a TV and DVD player (library of DVDs provided). From the entrance hall proceed through another reception room to the dining room, with a table and chairs to seat 8 guests. From here there are three steps up into the kitchen. The kitchen has a back door with access to the pathway and steps you can use at high tide to get to the house. From the entrance hall, stairs rise to the first floor (there is a gate at the top of the stairs, useful if you're staying with young children). From the landing there is access to the four bedrooms, the bathroom and the shower room; bedroom 1 has a super king bed, bedrooms 2 & 3 both have double beds, and bedroom 4 has two single beds. The family bathroom has a bath with a shower over it, and the shower room has a large double sized shower enclosure. All rooms upstairs, and downstairs, enjoy beautiful views of the river Dart, so you can wake up in the morning, at high tide, feeling very much as if you were actually on a boat! Guest access Guests can enjoy access to the whole house, front terrace and side terrace for their holiday. Other things to note Important to note: Saturday changeover. Access by car is subject to the tide! There are steps to the rear of property for access at high tide, please be careful if it has been raining. As such, the cottage is not suitable for the very elderly or infirm unfortunately. Bed linen is provided, but bath towels are not.
