Njord Cabin was designed with a strong focus on environmental integrity and considered integration of its architectural design with the surrounding natural landscape. Wildlife is abundant here and so you can expect to see plenty of birds (including red kites and maybe the occasional osprey or golden eagle), badgers, pine martens and the star the Great Glen: the red squirrel with their distinctive fluffy ear tufts. We have considered the elements which create an exceptional, easeful stay and have included them for your convenience: - Bedroom snug - brushed-cotton bed linen and a selection of pillows for your preference. - Shower room - modern Scandinavian eco waterless WC, spacious shower, toiletries, hand and bath towels, loo roll, hair dryer. - Sitting space - wood-burning stove, temperature-regulated heating, games and a selection of curated books. - Kitchen - cookware, utensils, crockery, cutlery, teapot, salt and pepper, cooking oil, electric hob, electric skillet, air fryer refrigerator, freezer, kettle and toaster. - Outdoor space - private garden and fire pit. - Amenities and safety - wifi (3G/4G is patchy/limited), electric sockets, USB and USB-C charging ports, fire extinguisher, smoke alarm, carbon-monoxide alarm. Sleeping Arrangements Njord Cabin sleeps: 2 adults = kingsize bed 1 child = child's raised/bunk bed (bed length 160cm) We welcome young families and with that in mind we have also incorporated a bespoke raised bunkbed accommodating one child (bed length 160cm). Location Njord Cabin is tucked away in the wild and yet within easy reach of the picturesque south shore of Loch Ness (the ‘secret side’ of Loch Ness). You’ll find more way-marked trails and “easy” accessible/lower-level walking routes suitable for all-abilities (including young families) than any other area of the Highlands. Nearby you’ll find the dramatic ancient fort of Dun Deardil, the Forestry Commission Farigaig Forest walks, the secluded lochan known to locals as the ‘Magic Loch’, the Falls of Foyers, and Dores Beach at Loch Ness. Cycling, walking, and wild swimming/dipping are very popular in the area. Njord Cabin is also located on the South Loch Ness Trail; a 36-mile walking route from Fort Augustus to Torbreck (on the edge of Inverness). Both Inverness (25 minutes) and Fort Augustus (30 minutes) are easily accessible by car. A car is essential for travelling further afield. Should you wish to stay a while longer, our central location proves the perfect gateway to explore many of the spectacular natural and cultural sites of interest. You might see dogs during your stay; these are local residents/family animals which are kept under control on neighbouring land. Access By Car 25 minutes south of Inverness 30 minutes north of Fort Augustus 30 minutes off the A9 By Train/Bus The nearest station to Njord Cabin is located in Inverness which has excellent transport links. By air Njord Cabin is located just 45-minutes from Inverness Airport Check-In and Check-Out Check-in is from 3pm on the first day of guest booking.
