Description
The Godley Cottage is located about halfway between Chicago and Springfield along the Old Route 66. There is a history of gangster hideouts and smuggling during Prohibition. It was originally a coal mining town and now a fisherman's paradise with many lakes here for fishing. The Godley Park District is a great place for kids and adults to play with farm animals and a dog park just a block away from the Cottage. The space Check-in and Check-out Check-in time is from 3:00 pm on the day of your arrival. We kindly request that you check out promptly by 10 am., allowing us to prepare the cottage for our next guests. You will receive a key code for the door of the cottage the day you arrive and it will be good for the duration of your stay so you can arrive when it is convenient for you anytime after 3:00 pm on arrival day. If your plans change and you require a late check-out, we may be able to accommodate you for a small additional fee. Inform us via Airbnb in your guest app, and we’ll do our best to arrange it for you. Parking On your arrival, you’ll notice the driveway to the left side of the Cottage. It accommodates up to two vehicles. Please feel free to park there throughout your stay. Let us know if you need any additional assistance on parking needs. House Rules We want you to have an incredible stay while respecting our property and the neighborhood. Please adhere to the following house rules: Max occupancy is 4 people. Kindly observe the check-in and check-out times. Please refrain from sharing the access code with unregistered guests. Parties or large gatherings are not permitted. Keep noise to a minimum between 10:00 pm and 10:00 am. Prohibited activities include the use of illegal substances. Smoking is strictly prohibited within the Cottage. Our Cottage has a no-pets policy, but please board your furry family members. Please turn off the air conditioning when you leave the Cottage. Ensure windows are closed and the door is securely locked when you’re away. To lock the front door, turn the lever so the lever faces up and down. Clean your dishes after use. On the day of departure, leave any dishes that need to be washed in the sink. All towels and dish clothes can be left in the bathtub. Leave bedding on the bed, and all garbage in the cans left in the house. If you need to take the garbage out, there is a trash can outside near the front door and a fresh trash bag under the kitchen sink. Guest access Using the Appliances Television. You’ll find a TV remote on the coffee table. We have a TV equipped with Roku streaming service. We have subscriptions to: Sling Orange and Blue, Hulu, Netflix, Paramount Plus. Feel free to log in to your personal accounts and enjoy your favorite shows. Don’t forget to log out before you leave! Central Heat: The thermostat is located in the kitchen next to the Master bedroom door. Adjust the temperature using the arrow buttons beside the display screen. Air conditioning. The master bedroom and the living room have window air conditioners. Coffee machine: Help yourself to the coffee provided, stored in the kitchen near the coffee machine. This Pampered Chef coffee maker can also heat up water for tea if you are a tea drinker. Washer and dryer. The washer/dryer is situated in the right closet in the master bedroom. The Usage of the Back Yard There is a grill and a picnic table in the back yard for your use. The grill has an automatic starter - please turn the propane on before using and off when finished. There is a deck off the master bedroom using the table and chairs on the deck. Make sure you secure the sliding glass door with the wooden block at the bottom of the sliding glass door when not using it. There are two lawn chairs in the master bedroom’s closet if you would like to sit in the yard. Please return after usage. There is a firepit in the back yard. If you are interested in using it, contact us for permission. We can share fire safety protocols with you upon permission. Otherwise, do not use it without our permission. Sometimes during the year depending on wind and dryness it can’t be safely used. There are two kayaks with paddles and life jackets for an additional fee that can be used in the Mazonia Lakes. Asked if you are interested. Other things to note Transportation: The best way to get around here is by vehicle, especially along Old Route 66. Dwight (20 mins. south) has a train station to use if you wish to travel into Chicago without a car or St. Louis or any towns or cities in between. Check the train schedule. There is free parking at the train station. There are two major bike paths nearby. One in Channahon or Morris on the I&M Canal trail, and one in Kankakee State Park along the Kankakee River. Both are really great for biking or walking. There are various fishing spots along both if you have an IL fishing license. There are two airports within an hour: Midway Airport (a bit closer) and O’Hare Airport. There is a local shuttle service available. Road Runner Shuttle LLC (120 S. Franklin Street) out of Dwight, IL offers reasonable rates 24/7. You certainly could use an Uber or Lift Ride if you are a user of their apps. There are a couple of drivers nearby.
