Historic Lake Cobbossee Cottage
Historic Lake Cobbossee Cottage
Description
Welcome to a historic Lake Cobbossee cottage — a remodeled four-bedroom retreat blending Maine camp charm with modern comfort. Nestled in the woods, it offers a treehouse, dock, canoes, motorboat mooring, WiFi, smart TV, and central heat. Sleeps 6–8 with lake views throughout. Shops, Augusta’s museum, spa, and dining are minutes away. Just an hour to the ocean or ski slopes, this year-round home delivers the full Maine experience. The space Set on the shores of one of Maine’s most beautiful lakes, Lake Cobbosseecontee, this home offers peaceful waterfront living with easy access to small-town charm and culture. The entire home has been recently renovated to provide all the comforts of today while preserving the charm of days gone by. There are four bedorooms upstairs and two bathrooms, one upstairs, one downstairs. There is a large enclosed front porch with panoramic lake views and plenty of room to relax, read, dine or play board games. Each bedroom is furnished with antiques and double beds, all with new mattresses. There is plenty of extra linen on hand, including bath and beach towels. The washer/dryer combination machine is state of the art and available for use, or you may choose to hang items to dry outside on the clothesline in the fresh air. Upstairs there is a lovely sunporch that offers a birdseye view of the lake, with direct access to the two front bedrooms. The kitchen and living area is open-concept and provides all the comfort and modern conveniences, but unless it rains, we don't imagine you will want to spend much time inside. Instead, enjoy swimming, fishing or sunbathing on the dock, eating al fresco in the shaded barbeque area, playing in the treehouse, walkling in the woods or enjoying a campfire at fire pit for a real Maine camp experience. A canoe, paddleboard floating mats and kayak are availble for your enjoyment. We also have an aluminum boat with outboard motor and a sailboat available to experienced boaters for a fee. Lifejackets are available as well as a cooler for your excursions on the lake and beyond. For example, you may wish to take a drive upcountry to see a moose in the Rangely area, or spend a day at the seaside while in Maine. These and many other activities are within driving distance. In nearby Winthrop, you’ll find a welcoming public library, a lakefront park perfect for walks or summer concerts, and plenty of local cafés, shops, and restaurants along Main Street. Augusta, just 10 minutes away, adds museums, historic sites, and larger stores, while a short drive south leads to Hallowell, known for its antique shops, pubs, restaurants, bakeries and bike trail that line the Kennebec River. For outdoor enthusiasts, two golf courses are nearby, along with endless opportunities for boating, fishing, and swimming. The area blends natural beauty with everyday practicality, making it easy to enjoy both quiet days by the water and lively evenings out. Guest access Access to whole house, grounds and private water frontage
