Bicycles welcome (garage storage available). The space This home is a beautifully preserved 1904 Victorian house located in the historic railroad town of Melrose, Minnesota. The house retains many of its original architectural details, including high ceilings, decorative plasterwork, Victorian-style wood trim, and lovely leaded glass windows. The entire second floor is dedicated to guest accommodations and is accessed by a separate stairwell entrance. Guests share common areas including a small kitchen, lounge space, bathrooms, and a balcony. One of the most unique features of the home is its turret architecture, creating bright window alcoves with multiple windows and views of the surrounding neighborhood. Guests are also welcome to enjoy the outdoor spaces, including the yard, garden, and fire pit area. The house is located in a quiet residential neighborhood just one block from historic Main Street and half a block from the Lake Wobegon Trail, making it an excellent base for cyclists, lake visitors, and travelers exploring central Minnesota. The host lives on the first floor of the home and is available if guests need assistance during their stay. Guest access Guests will access the second floor through a separate entrance on the north side of the house (facing 1st St SE). Check-in is self-service using a lockbox; detailed instructions will be provided prior to arrival. Guests have access to their private bedroom along with shared second-floor spaces including the kitchen, bathrooms, lounge areas, and balcony. Outdoor spaces including the yard, garden, and fire pit area are also available to guests. Bicycles are welcome and can be stored securely in the garage upon request. Free off-street parking is available. Please note that common areas may be shared with other guests staying in additional rooms on the second floor. During your stay I live on the first floor of the home and am available if guests need assistance, local recommendations, or help during their stay. At the same time, the guest floor is designed to allow visitors to come and go independently and enjoy their stay with as much privacy as they prefer. Guests generally check themselves in using the lockbox and may not see the host unless help is needed. Other things to note This listing is for a private room in a shared guest floor, not the entire home. Kitchen, bathrooms, lounge areas, and balcony may be shared with other guests staying in nearby rooms. The first floor of the home is the host’s private living space and is not accessible to guests, except for the entryway and laundry by request. Check-in: after 4pm Checkout: by 11am Quiet hours are 11pm–8am. Cannabis use is permitted only in designated outdoor smoking areas. No indoor smoking. Bicycles are welcome but must be stored in the garage rather than inside the house. Pets are not permitted.
