The Little Brown Caboose @ Hideaway on the Hocking

The Little Brown Caboose stays true to her history on the Santa Fe railway line with a Southwestern vibe. Upon entry, an amber glass chandelier adorns the 14' high window-lined cupola setting the tone throughout. Warm desert camel and cactus green accents, together with the stone-inspired indoor-outdoor dining area, create an ultra-cozy space that looks out the picture windows to nature beyond. Set at one end of the line, your private firepit area offers great views of the Sanctuary Pond. The space The Little Brown Caboose serves as the anchor for our five trains. In her past life, she was rescued by a railroad enthusiast in Indiana who converted her into a passenger train for rides at a local train depot. As such, a row of windows lines the walls of this train and serve as picture frames for the colorful country landscape outside. Between the extra space on the second largest of our cabooses and the open concept living, dining and kitchen space, it's pretty much guaranteed you will forget you're staying in a train. With a built-in queen bed in the sleeping quarters, comfy queen sofa-bed in the living space, and a full-bath with tile-lined glass shower, four can comfortably enjoy this desert retreat. Want to enjoy the nature just outside these picture windows? A 330 square foot covered porch with comfy rocking chairs and stone-inspired dining bar is the perfect place. Because this train is located at one end of the line, it's the only caboose porch looking out to the meadow AND lake beyond. With views that are off the tracks, comfortable sleeping for four and an open floor plan, this is one ride you don't want to miss. All aboard! The Little Brown Caboose and The Little Red Caboose are our only dog-friendly cabooses at this time. You are welcome to bring along your extended, furry family to this unit. Be sure to check Hideaway's Pet Policy in the Rental Conditions to confirm that your dog meets all requirements before you add your dog onto your booking. If you opt to bring a dog, there will be an additional $75 fee (plus tax) which you will select when making your reservation. Guest access The Little Brown Caboose is located within the gated Hideaway on the Hocking resort property. You will receive an access code for the resort gate and your rental property 7 days before your stay. Your code is only active for the duration of your stay. It will activate at your check-in time (4:00pm) and it will deactivate at your check-out time (11:00am). This code will be used to enter the front gate of the property and your personal rental. To access, you will hit the YALE button on the keypad, type in your access code and then hit the Checkmark button. Wait until you hear door unlock completely before trying to open. Other things to note Located within the Hideaway on the Hocking resort, you can spend your days exploring miles of private trails, kayaking the Hocking River, picking fresh corn and tomatoes from our flower-lined garden or escaping to one of our panoramic Hideouts. After a full day, you can enjoy dinner on your spacious porch overlooking the fields below and river beyond before you cap off the evening around your private firepit under a wide-open starry sky.
