Villa Athermigo is located in the picturesque village of Gavalohori outside the historic town of Chania. The fully-serviced villa can be rented as a whole to accommodate parties of up to ten people or as individual self-contained Cottages each sleeping between two and four people. The space The name The name "Athermigo" derives from the traditional olive pressing process that is typical of the locality. The three deluxe accommodation units are named after the trees on the property: Elia (Olive tree), Rodia (Pomegranate tree) and Karydia (Walnut tree). Enjoy a perfect rural retreat on Crete with services to match your needs. Architecture & History Villa Athermigo is an ancient monument, a remarkable example of local, traditional architecture. A 250 year-old olive oil press has been recently restored to create an elegant boutique-style villa that combines discreet rural chic with all the amenities that holidaymakers expect. Guests in all three accommodation units share a luxurious lounge and kitchen as well as the courtyard and garden with its secluded private swimming pool. Our service team is on-hand to provide daily housekeeping. We can also arrange car rental, restaurant bookings, excursions and much more – in effect combining a hotel experience with the privacy and exclusivity of a villa holiday. By arrangement we can even extend the service to include lunch, dinner and party catering at the villa. Elements such as the main entrance, the stone openings, the interior patio, the traditional exterior oven (where the reception area of the Villa is located), the well and the semi-circular arches typical of the architecture of the time, as well as the original oil extraction machinery, have all been preserved intact. This renovation process resulted in a luxurious and contemporary villa complex. Karydia, a ground level cottage of 40 m2, may accommodate up to two people. It has a king size bed, that may be dressed with separate linen, a writing desk and fireplace and a bathroom with shower. Its terrace, located at the exterior area of the cottage house, offers great views to the garden and the pool of the complex.
