Recently renovated Gortanachuirn is a cosy 2 bedroom farm cottage. Located on our small farm outside the village of Bruichladdich it has stunning views over Lochindaal, with Ireland and the Mull of Kintyre all easily seen in the distance. Surrounded by our cows and sheep it is the perfect spot to relax and settle into ‘Islay time’. The cottage is in a quiet location With no near neighbours. It is situated 600m up a gravel track ( see images). Please note dogs are not permitted. The space The cottage has undergone a full renovation and now consists of 2 en-suite bedrooms that can be configured to either Super King Size beds or two single beds. It can sleep four people comfortably. Each bedroom has a wall mounted television that comes complete with Netflix. The Bedrooms are located on the second floor up a small staircase. The kitchen area has an extendable oak table, hob cooker with oven, built in microwave, dishwasher, toaster and tea and coffee making facilities as well as an ice making fridge/freezer. The cosy living room has comfortable seating. With a wood burning stove ( logs supplied free of charge). Full sky TV package with movies, sports and Netflix. The cottage is heated throughout by oil fired heating. A separate utility room houses a washing machine, tumble dryer and a small toilet A small front porch leads out onto a wrap around deck with outside seating and a small walled garden. The fields surrounding the cottage are filled with wildlife. In addition to our sheep and cattle that graze the farm. It is also home to a family of Chough, Hen Harriers, Hare, Deer, Owls, not to mention the migrating Corncrakes and numerous small birds that take advantage of the peace and quiet. If you are looking for a quiet space to relax, unwind, get away from it all but also want to be close enough to the hustle and bustle of island life, Gortanachuirn is ideally situated to allow that to happen. The beautiful views from the garden make it a fantastic place for relaxing and settling into ‘Islay Time’ while its proximity to Bruichladdich means a good whisky ( or Gin) is never very far away. Please note that the house is located at the end of a gravel farm track and surfaces can be quite uneven. Care must be taken when driving on it especially during the wetter winter months. A small walled garden with wrap around decking is to the front and a larger drying green to the side. The house is completely private and is not overlooked in any way. Other things to note Due to our farm location, dogs are not permitted at the cottage. Please ensure that ferry bookings are made at the same time as house reservations . The ferries are very busy and it is not possible to make last minute bookings. If using the Cal- Mac app, please note Islay has two ferry ports Port Ellen and Port Askaig so you need to check availability on both routes before booking. While we do our best to provide everything that you need to enjoy your stay. The cottage is self catering so there may be items you may need to bring with you. Please check the list of things we provide so you are aware of anything else that you may need. The cottage is located at the end of a 600 metre gravel track which can be uneven in periods of prolonged rain. Our low cars ( one being a Mini) can manage up and down it with ease but care must be taken if you are not familiar with driving on gravel surfaces. Please see attached photos of road.
