Quiet island Nature Retreat in South West Michigan
Description
Quiet, nature-surrounded shared home on a peaceful waterfront property. Guests have primary use of the first floor, including a private bedroom, living areas, kitchen, and bath, while the host lives upstairs. Well suited for longer stays, remote or creative work, rest, or slow time in nature. Guests should be comfortable in a calm, shared-home environment. Optional, paid holistic bodywork services are available on site with the host by request. The space The guest space occupies the first floor of this shared home and is fully furnished for longer stays. Guests have primary use of the kitchen for cooking and daily meals. The host does not use the kitchen for cooking, but may occasionally pass through to access laundry, retrieve stored household items, or use freezer or refrigerator overflow. The private guest bedroom includes a queen bed and a walk-in closet, with full guest use. Some seasonal host items are stored in the closet but do not interfere with use. The bathroom features a walk-in shower and a deep, vintage claw-foot cast-iron tub. The home is quietly situated on a peaceful waterfront property approximately six miles west of Kalamazoo, offering a rural, nature-forward setting well suited for guests staying a week or longer. Guest access The home is accessed via a 1/4-mile dirt two-track driveway off a quiet cul-de-sac. Slow driving is required and appreciated. Guests have full access to the first floor of the home (approximately 2,200 square feet), which includes the guest bedroom, bathroom, living area, and kitchen. There are two steps and a small landing at the front entry. The second floor and basement are restricted and are used by the host. Guests are welcome to prepare their own meals. The kitchen is stocked with dishes, cookware, appliances, and basic staples. Coffee and a small welcome treat are provided. A large propane grill is also available for guest use. During your stay The host lives onsite and enjoys welcoming guests and helping them get settled. Interaction varies by guest preference and can be as social or as independent as you like. The host is generally available by text for questions or communication during your stay. Two dogs and a resident cat also live onsite and may occasionally pass through shared areas. Please share your estimated arrival time in advance so pets can be secured if needed. Other things to note This is a rural, nature-forward property, and conditions here differ from urban or resort settings. The home sits at the back of a quiet subdivision but feels secluded and deeply peaceful once you arrive. The driveway is a 1/4-mile unpaved two-track through a wooded area and can be easy to miss. Please follow the written arrival directions carefully and drive slowly, especially at dusk or night. Wildlife is active in the area and may be present along the drive. The property is very quiet, particularly at night, and exterior lighting is intentionally minimal. Guests should be comfortable with darkness and natural sounds. Internet service is stable for general use but not well suited for video calls or high-bandwidth needs. Guests are asked to respect the sensitive surrounding ecosystem. Conditions may vary seasonally, and the host may share additional guidance as needed to ensure safety and care of the property.
