Sleep in a WW2 Bomb Shelter

Description

WARNING - Not every Airbnb guest is up for sleeping in a real bomb shelter— but maybe you are the one! Experience a one-of-a-kind stay in our World War II underground bomb shelter, a hidden gem steeped in history! The shelter’s sturdy walls and arched ceilings create a cozy, bunker-chic vibe. Perfect for history buffs, adventure seekers, or anyone craving an unforgettable escape, this subterranean hideaway offers a rare glimpse into the past. The space Tucked beneath a 1930s detached Bath stone house just one mile from the heart of Bath’s UNESCO-listed city center. This unique underground hideaway was built to protect against Luftwaffe air raids during the 1940s Bath Blitz. We can show you maps where bombs fell just 30 meters from the house—a chilling reminder of the shelter’s wartime significance. -> While we’ve made every effort to ensure it is a comfortable space this is still a genuine bomb shelter—embrace the rustic charm, including the occasional spider and a cool, windowless ambiance. A sturdy metal door is your main supply of natural light and ventilation, and note that the underground setting keeps things refreshingly cool during summer heatwaves but can be quite cold in winter (we provide extra blankets!) while there is central heating keep in mind that it might not be enough to make it really warm. Guest access If you are driving there is free street parking across the road and also a bus stop just outside the house makes it super easy to reach city centre. Guests are welcome to use the front gardens and patio. The entrance to the bomb shelter is completely private from the main house Other things to note Read before booking -> Please keep in mind that this isn’t your typical hotel room. The bomb shelter has no windows, it can be drafty and quite cold (there is central heating but might not be enough ) you are likely to find spiders and other insects. Also you might hear, water flowing in the plumbing pipes, footsteps above and my dog moving around as well. There isn’t a partition wall dividing the bathroom area, it is on open-plan layout. We recommend you bring a pair of flippers for the shower with you as the floor is bare concrete. Please don’t throw toilet paper in the toilet, we have a bin for that. Hope this hasn’t scared you it’s a super cool experience but we have to let you know these things in advance !
