Ad Astra Mountain House is as close to Heaven as you can get, set high up in the Northern Drakensberg mountains this cozy rustic house has the most expansive views. With endless mountains stretching around you as far as the eye can see this house is ideal for people who love to hike, mountain bike or just simply relax and take in all the views & the crisp mountain air. The cottage is near enough to local activities & is also far away enough to enjoy the peace of the surrounding mountains. The space A 4x4 vehicle is needed to access the property and of course an adventurous spirit! You may leave a 2x4 vehicle at Alpine Heath and do two trips as the house is a mere 2.1km from Alpine Heath. Its a fun drive too!! Please do not try to get your 2x4 up the mountain, rather play it safe and go with your friends 4x4. If you love the mountains, peace and serenity then this house is for you. It’s a comfortable but simple structure which is worked on all the time It will always be just that –simple & comfortable! Set in a remote area near a World Heritage Site. The house is a 100 square meter, 2 (and a half) bedrooms, 1 and a half bathrooms. Sleeping arrangements - Main bedroom has 2 single beds and there is a separate room attached which has bunk beds for 2 kids - Second bedroom has 2 single beds. There is electricity in the house, running water and a hot shower. A fully electrified fence around the house i.e. a 0.7 ha “garden” which is doggie friendly. There is a TV at the house which you can always plug your Laptop into with an HDMI cable, or simply use a external hard drive to watch TV. Although there is no Wi-Fi the 4g signal is very good so you can use you mobile phones. The property is 121 ha in total area and includes open grasslands, dense mountain forest, a deep gorge with waterfall (in the rainy season), Protea “forests” and spectacular views.
