High-speed Internet. 6 guests total, not counting kids under 2 years old. 3 bedrooms plus a small fold-down futon upstairs. Dogs welcome (well-behaved) with a pet fee. *See house rules* Full kitchen ready for your vacation meals. Gas grill outside. There's a Samsung flatscreen TV. It has "Sling Free," or you can bring your own Netflix/Hulu/etc. passwords. (Or watch the ducks on the pond instead of the TV.) The barn is near the parking area, but it is not part of the rental. San Juan County. Permit #PPROV0 - 15 - 0023 There isn't much public transportation on Orcas. You'll want a car or bike. We love to meet our guests, but also happy to leave you entirely alone. If you need tips and suggestions for your Orcas Island visit, let us know. We have favorite beaches, hikes, and places to eat. This is a great places to stay for exploring Orcas. It's not far from the ferry landing (about 15 min), so it's convenient for coming and going. You're just a bit more than 5 minutes from the center of Eastsound, which is the heart of the island. Nothing on Orcas is too far away. "This property is absolutely incredible- secluded in the woods right on a pond. (Kaitlin, April 2019, five-star reviews) RELAX NEAR THE POND The front porch overlooks the pond and has wooden chairs and pillows. This is our favorite part of the home. Anytime of the day, rain or shine, we find nothing more relaxing than sitting on the deck and gazing at the pond. (A roof overhang keeps you dry even if it's raining.) The pond attracts wild ducks and other wildlife. Depending on the time of year, you might see baby ducks following their mother through the lily pads, a heron flying low over the water, or a family of deer coming down to drink. FULL KITCHEN FOR COOKING AND ENTERTAINING Eating well is one of the best parts of going on vacation, so we've set up a kitchen you can really use. All the basics: a full oven/range, toaster, blender, French press, coffee grinder, electric coffee maker, and fridge. The microwave is in the pantry. All the pots and pans you could want, cooking utensils, etc. (If there's something you need for a particular dish, let us know when you're here and we might be able to come up with it!) We keep a collection of staples in the pantry - flour, baking soda, oil, etc., so you won't have to buy a whole bottle of oil when you need just a couple of tablespoons. Again, ask us if there's something you need. If you like to grill, we've got a pretty serious one on the porch right outside the kitchen door. BEDROOMS AND SLEEPING AREAS There are three queen beds, one in each upstairs bedroom and one in the little room off the dining room. (There are no windows in this room; it is separated from the bathroom and dining room with louver doors, so it's not exactly private, but it's super-cozy.) The main bedroom also has a small chaise that turns into a cot. (Perfect for a child.) WASHER AND DRYER There's a washer and dryer available for your use. STAYING WARM (OR COOL) The house is heated with electricity and does not have air conditioning (most houses on Orcas don't.) It stays toasty in the cooler months and gets plenty of sunshine through the big south-facing windows. In the summer, the roof overhang keeps things from heating up too much, and the cool evenings mean you can get a breeze through the house. We have quiet fans in each bedroom and in the common area. If you have questions about the house not answered here, please ask us! PPROV0-15-0023 The house manual (a white binder with a dragonfly on the cover) is usually on the side table in the living room. Please look through it for important information about fires, quiet hours, County rules, etc. No cats If you bring a dog. *Non-Refundable Pet fee is $200 per visit for dogs. *Dogs must be leashed per San Juan County leash law. *NO dogs UPSTAIRS. *Nails must be freshly trimmed to be kind to the wood floors :) *No dogs on furniture *No dogs on beds (we provide a dog bed) *Dogs left alone in the house must be crated at all times. (the house has a 48"L x 30"W x 33"H metal crate) *Limit of 2 dogs or 3 small (under 15lb.) dogs *Please do not bathe dogs in showers/tubs...if needed, use hose and hydrant in yard. The wifi password is in the house manual and also on the back of the router, in the laundry room. The TV is a Roku TV. For broadcast channels, use the Sling Free app on the TV. You can also bring your logins to your streaming services (Netflix, Hulu, etc).
