Charming East Cottage . Close to Airport

Situated perfectly between Austin's downtown and the airport, this charming cottage is the perfect hideaway for a weekend venture into Austin's vibrant East Side, a pit stop for a weekend at the F1 track, or a base camp for braving SxSW. Built-in the style of a New Orleans "shotgun house", the cottage is nestled among hackberry trees and sabal palmettos and catches the morning light perfectly for enjoying a cup of coffee on the front porch. Walk up the steps and into this adorable cottage. The front room is a small living area equipped with a smart TV and chill couch. The kitchen is outfitted with all of the amenities to sustain a good time in Austin, including a coffeemaker with coffee, a hot water kettle for tea, a basic set of cookware, and all of the essentials you'll need to hit the town. Off of the hallway is a full bathroom with a tub. At the end of the hallway is the bedroom with a comfy queen bed. The cottage is surrounded by its own fence, its front gate taking you to a private parking area protected from the road by a privacy fence. You will have access to the entire cottage. The New Orleans style lot has a private gate and lovely vegetation. The large lot host two identical cottages. I live in one cottage and the other is fo you. I am available if needed, but you will have privacy. The cottage is located right in the middle of Montopolis, a vibrant and rising neighborhood with a long history in Austin. Montopolis is currently under rapid development, and is directly linked to Austin's well-known East Side neighborhood by the historic Montopolis Bridge which is being turned into a pedestrian and bicycle-only access across the free-flowing side of the Colorado River which runs along Montopolis' northern edge. Along the river on the neighborhood's northwest side and right next to the Riverside Golf Course is the Roy G. Guerrero Colorado River Metro Park which offers many hiking trails, enormous sports fields at Krieg Fields, and even an 18 "hole" disc golf course which winds along the creek and right through the forest. From Krieg Fields and the Metro Park you have easy access to one of Austin's crown jewels - the Town Lake Hike and Bike Trail, which runs along the perimeter of "Town Lake" in the center of Austin and provides beautiful and easy bicycle or pedestrian access to any part of Austin's city center. For food, apart from the simple "Tomgro Grocery" bodega just down the street where you can find beer, snacks, and essentials, you will find a wide variety of local food trailers all across the neighborhood. Montopolis' large Latinx population means you can grab some Honduran papusas at multiple food trailers along Riverside, some classic Mexican fare at the "Tacos la Sabroza" trailer at Montopolis and Riverside, or you can even enjoy a Paraguayan empanada and cafecito at Cafe Nena'i, a cute local female and family-owned coffee shop which is only a 10 minute walk down Montopolis from the cottage itself. Walk to the local flea market on Saturday mornings on the lot at Montopolis and Porter next to Tomgro Grocery where you can buy anything from a new pair of pants to shampoo to some fresh carnitas tacos. The cottage is a mere miles to downtown Austin. However, If you get tired of the city, the cottage is located at the southeastern part of town, allowing for easy escape into the country. McKinney Falls State Park, which ha multiple swimming holes, hiking trails, camping, and even offers regular educational nature walks is only a 12 minute drive away. The cottage is very well located for exploring all parts of Austin. By car (or Lyft) you are able to reach the following places in: Distance From: Airport - 2.5 miles 6th St / Convention Center - 4.3 miles Zilker Park - 4.9 miles Domain - 18 miles University of Texas/Moody Center - 5 miles McKinney Falls State Park - 12 minutes Zilker Park & Barton Springs - 19 minutes If you use the newly established Montopolis Bridge hike and bike access into the East Side, or go through the Metro Park to cross at the Pleasant Valley Dam, you can ride a bike or take a scooter right into the East Side within 15 minutes. There are often Bird/Lyft scooters parked in the neighborhood, and if you want (and if you fit) you can even borrow my bike! What is the parking situation? You may enter the courtyard and one space is available for guests. There is also free on-street parking if your car is larger or if guests have more than one vehicle. What is in walking distance (within 1/2 mile)? Coffee- Nenai Coffee, Ani's Day and Night Restuarant - Taquería Arcadio, Delmy's Pupuseria Golf - Riverside Golf Kiddo Supplies: Please let us know ahead of time if you need a pack n play or high chair. How do I check in? A day or two before your arrival, we send the details for your check in: address, door code, wifi info. You will be able to come and go using a code. Your personal code is activated at 3 pm, so if you request an early check in the code may not work. Just remind us! Can I extend a stay? To extend a stay, you can request through the app or message us. We will check the calendar then send confirmation with the new payout. Can I change or cancel my reservation? It may vary a bit between platforms, but usually 5 days prior to arrival guests may receive a full refund. If a guests wants to make changes within the five days arrival or after arrival, we cannot provide a refund. Are pets allowed? We love dogs and love to host but they do cause more complications for our cleaning crew. We have a limit of 2 dogs with a 50.00 pet fee. Please let us know if you are bringing your pup. If guests arrive with a pet without making prior arrangements, the fee is 250.00. Because of allergies, we cannot host cats. Service vs Emotional Support Service dogs have received specialized training to perform a specific task or tasks for an individual with a disability are considered service animals. Please provide the documentation and the pet fee is waived. Emotional support animals are important as well, but they will be charged the pet fee. Are there extra pillows? We provided two pillows per person. For instance, a queen bed will have four sleeping pillows. We leave plenty of extra blankets as well. Are extra guests allowed? If you have a few (2-3) friends pop over, this is not an issues. Is smoking allowed outside? Yes, you are welcome to smoke outside the space. Please pick up cigarette butts. Smoking inside the home would result in a 250.00 fee for cleaning and possible blocking nights for other guests. Could we leave our luggage? We are able to store luggage in the space for two hours before or after check in. Let us know so our cleaners are not surprised. There is also a service (usebounce) that is an option for storing bags. Could I have an early check-in or late checkout? We use the DACK app (info given upon confirmation) where guests can purchase extra time before check-in or after check-out. This allows our cleaners to manage their time and have houses ready in a timely manner. What is a MUST do in Austin? We love Barton Springs (especially in warmer months). South Congress has so much in a close proximity. Park close to Jo’s Coffee and stroll from there (shopping, cafes, music!). Vera Cruz tacos are really the best Austin has!
