Wild Solar Riverside Cabin + Sauna Near Pāvilosta
Description
Off-grid riverside cabin + sauna near Pāvilosta. Solar-powered, wood-heated, and surrounded by forest. No Wi-Fi, no hot water—but a canoe, dry toilet, and peaceful wildness included. Cozy 40m² cabin with sauna, wood stove for cooking, firm mattresses, and sleeping lofts. Great for digital detox and slow living. Expect ticks, birdsong, maybe a mouse. Nature lovers welcome. The space A cozy, rustic 40m² wood cabin designed by a Latvian architect. There's a ground floor with a small kitchen and lounge area, a second floor with workspace and sleeping mats, and an attic for extra floor bedding. The sauna house is just 40m away and doubles as your private spa. A wood stove provides heat and a flat cooking surface. Water is stored in canisters, and shower water comes in at nature’s temperature — unless you heat it the traditional way. The compost toilet uses peat. The porch is perfect for morning coffee or evening wine, and the canoe is yours to explore the river. Pets are welcome too. Guest access Main cabin. River swimming place. Sauna building with an extra bed. Canoe boat with oars. Storage behind the cabin with a fridge. Other things to note Power: The cabin runs on a low-voltage 12V solar system. There’s very little electromagnetic field here—some guests say they feel the difference. We also provide a DC-to-AC inverter (up to 150W) if you need to charge a laptop or similar. No Hot Water: The shower is refreshingly cold (~20°C), or you can heat water on the wood stove or sauna furnace for a warm wash. Water: No drinking water on-site. Bring your own or refill at a natural spring a few kilometers away. Connectivity: No Wi-Fi, but 4G mobile data works fine (~25 Mbps). Still, it’s the kind of place where you’ll want to stay offline. Sleeping: Mattresses are firm—great for some, a surprise for others. All beds are on the floor. Wildlife: This is real nature. You may encounter ticks, wild animals (including snakes), and a resident mouse who occasionally tries to steal snacks. Food box and small fridge provided. Cooking: There’s no gas stove—just a sturdy wood furnace with a flat metal top you can cook or boil water on. It’s old-school but reliable. Toilet: Dry compost toilet (with peat) inside the cabin. Surprisingly not scary. Parking & Access: You’ll park about 60m away and cross a small ditch via a narrow plank bridge. Rolling suitcases not recommended. Pets: Well-behaved pets are welcome. Extras: You’re free to use the canoe for a gentle paddle along the river. A few kids size life jackets are provided. This cabin is best suited for solo travelers, couples, or close-knit small groups who don’t mind getting a little muddy, a little sweaty, and a lot unplugged.
