After supper head either to the snug, with its sofas, Smart TV and log burner, or the more formal lounge which has a mahogany dresser and a writing desk. Also on the ground floor are a king-sized bedroom (twin on request) and a shower room, while the remaining four bedrooms are on the first floor: a king-size (with a hidden en-suite shower room), two doubles and a twin room with a sloping ceiling. All have beautiful furnishings and interesting features. The family bathroom is an indulgent space with a free-standing slipper bath and separate rainwater shower. Cottage-style stairs lead to the attic, with bean bags and table football, and there’s another secret hideaway: from the hall a second set of steep steps leads to the cellar, perfect for leisurely socialising. Outside, there’s a garden with a lawn, plus raised decking with furniture for al fresco dining. Halesworth is a historic market town with an excellent range of independent shops and places to eat and drink, as well as an art centre and a variety of interesting period buildings. It’s just 9 miles to charming Southwold, with its iconic lighthouse, beach, Edwardian pier and choice of shops, pubs and restaurants.
