Welcome to Wellstone Center in the Redwoods! We're a writers' retreat center surrounded by redwoods with an ocean view. The Zen Suite is the largest and most comfortable room that we occasionally rent out, when we are traveling ourselves. The space The Zen Suite at the Wellstone Center in the Redwoods is our most luxurious and sought after option, featuring a king-sized bed with stunning views on the Pacific Ocean below and the redwoods behind. There is also a fire place, walk-in closet and deluxe bathroom with shower, large tub and separate toilet. The Zen Suite is like a large cocoon for a couple who wants to get away. It's ideal for a romantic retreat. Many writers have stayed in it and managed to finish a substantial portion of their work due to the aura of silent contemplation it affords. Three ways to enter and exit the house make it easy for you to go to your car below, step out on your own terrace for a fresh breath of air or go through the main house and get something to drink from the kitchen. You can use our fully equipped kitchen and BBQ outside. We offer access to private trails through the redwoods and on our grounds you can entertain yourself with Bocce ball, practicing on the putting green or just lounge by the pool or sit in the hot tub. We will try to make you feel comfortable and give you an experience that you will not want to have missed. Wir sprechen deutsch and hablamos espaňol. Guest access Guests are encouraged to use everything that our home has to offer, including: -Swimming pool: Complete with several lounge chairs and comfortable seating, we encourage you to lounge by the pool while enjoying a good book (or borrow one from our library). -Shared library: We have books from genres as varied as travel, literature, Buddhism, meditation, writing, and even some works by past writers who've stayed here and Steve (our resident writer and co-director). -Fully equipped kitchen (shared): Complete with pots, pans, utensils, and almost any kitchen gadget and dishware you can imagine. There is also the possibility for BBQing outside. We recommend to all our guests that they - depending on their preferences - go to one of the great local restaurants close by or bring with them food that they can cook here (and yes, store in our fridge!). -Private trails: From the back of the house you can take private trails through the redwoods. -Bocce ball, small putting green: If you need a break from writing or just love to play bocce or golf we have both steps from your room. -Pizza oven: Bake your own pizza! (This might require that you bring your own wood). -Community courses, such as yoga and OpenMic Night, and weekend workshops on topics like nature photography or a "Find Your Voice" writing workshop with a best-selling author. It's as simple as sending a text. Please still note that it takes a while to heat up and if you can let them know sooner, the better.
