Our art filled home offers you a place to recharge from the City. Stay in the cozy Teddy Bear room. New twin bed with space underneath for suitcases, new quality linens, comforter, pillows. Dressing table, TV with Chromestick, wifi, AC. Great for grad students, nurses, doctors doing residencies, & others who need a safe, charming, peaceful place for stays of one to three months. Wake to birdsong, relax on the porch, or in the backyard. The space It is a Victorian house built in 1904. It is charming, art filled and quirky. Comfortable living room. Porch is wonderful for morning coffee or unwinding in the evening. Backyard is peaceful and late summer the fig tree is bountiful. The rooms are surprisingly soundproof, and often you do not even realize that others are home! There is no laundry - washing machine or dryer available for guests. BBQ grill use only with host permission. Indoor fireplace cannot be used by guests. Free street parking across from house. There is usually a sweet, small Boston Terrier named Susu in the house - which is why absolutely no other pets can be accommodated. Susu does not visit guest rooms. She is an absolute love bug and is a rescue from Miami. She loves to wear her sweaters and tee shirts and shake hands for a treat. Please do not feed her any human food, and be sure to close the doors when you go outside. She travels often so she may or may not be here during your stay. Things to note: - food storage space is kind of limited, but let us know what you need - guests mostly use the basement refrigerator and the rest of the basement is a storage area, functional but not pretty - cooking beyond microwave and toaster oven may be limited, please discuss with host. Guest access Shared kitchen, dining nook, bathroom, living room, porch (with comfy seating, hammock), backyard. No outdoor fire or BBQ grilling without host permission. Guests may not use the indoor fireplace. Guests mostly use the fridge in the basement. Besides the fridge area of the basement, the basement is the owner's storage space and off limits to guests. During your stay Degree of interaction is largely up to you. We have hosted international grad students, traveling nurses, actors, and doctors doing their residencies at nearby hospitals for years. Sometimes we do a group dinner or BBQ, often we catch up briefy if/when we run into one another in the kitchen. Other things to note To book, please send us a brief message introducing yourself and acknowledging that you have read the description and house rules. We ask for acknowledgement so that expectations on both sides are clear up front (and not because we are crazy about rules - this is actually a very laid back place), and to make sure it is a good fit.
