The Aripeka Shack

The "Shack" is our rustic weekend getaway in Aripeka, one of a few remaining "Old Florida" fishing towns. A great place to enjoy Florida nature as it used to be. Located between Hernando Beach, Spring Hill, and Hudson; Aripeka is an easy drive to the many attractions in the "Nature Coast" and the Tampa/Clearwater/St. Pete area. The space Rustic and cozy. Enjoy canoeing and kayaking on the Gulf of Mexico and the creeks and springs of the "back country" just a short paddle away from your backyard. A country store and boat ramp are a 3-minute walk away. Or just relax and enjoy the view from the back deck, complete with hot tub, gas fire pit, and gas grill. Sleeping arrangements include a queen bed in the Bedroom and a bunk bed and separate futon (double size) in the den area. The kitchen is small but functional with all the amenities necessary for a relaxing weekend away from home including microwave, coffeemaker, and glass top range. The living area provides plenty of comfortable seating. The bathroom has a shower (no tub). There is also an outdoor shower. The back deck includes a hot tub, gas fire pit, and gas grill and overlooks a canal and salt marsh. High speed internet and cable/smart TV. Guests also have access to 4 kayaks that can be launched in the back yard. ***New for fall of 2022: For those reading reviews: we have replaced the main A/C and added a unit to the bedroom... it's now icy cold even on the hottest days! *** ***Recently added for Summer of 2023: New seawall and kayak launch, washer and dryer*** ***Update for 2025: We have finally recovered from hurricane Helene! We have replaced almost all of the interior furnishings and fixtures. We have also added a dock. For our repeat guests, you'll notice a few new features and decor and hope you enjoy them! Extras include: 4 kayaks Hot tub Gas fire pit Gas grill Washer and dryer Guest access You'll have access to the entire property. Includes kayaks on the premises. Other things to note There are a plethora of nearby outdoor activities and attractions: The area boasts great fishing, both inshore and offshore, scalloping, Kayaking & canoeing, hiking, and great beaches nearby.
