An historic house (250 years of family heritage), refurbished to modern comfort standards, located close to the ancient walled city of Obidos, the famous medieval village. This property enjoys a slightly elevated position, with beautiful distant views of the huge Obidos saltwater lagoon, and of the surrounding countryside breathtaking landscape. The house is furnished and decorated, stands on 2 floors, offering 4 bedrooms (two doubles, and two singles), three bathrooms with bath tub and/or shower, a cosy lounge sitting room, dining room, library with Wi-Fi, fully equipped kitchen and utilities room. Two children beds and a high-chair are available, as well as some children toys. Bed linen and towels are provided, including pool towels. In the property's large yard there is a charming place to cook and eat meals, decorated in a rustic style with its own fireplace and barbecue. Flower pots and trees are spread around the gardens, which includes a romantic stone table and seats to eat outside in the summertime. The private swimming pool (8x4m or 26 x 13 ft.), complete with chairs, umbrellas and tables stands on an elevated, spacious pool podium on the far side of the yard. A private garage is available. Sleeps 6/7. All this in a complete privacy. The property, situated in a rural village close to Obidos, the famous walled medieval castle, affording lovely distant views over the huge salt water Obidos Lagoon, Foz do Arelho and Baleal beaches, Praia del Rey Golf Course, one of Europe’s best golfing course, and the surrounding countryside. It is an area with gorgeous sandy beaches, museums, quaint old towns, high cliffs, and beautiful, unspoiled hilly countryside, ideal for walking tours, water sports, surfing, canoeing, etc. The geographic location of the house allows guests to explore the centre of Portugal. From the University City of Coimbra, through historical Alcobaça, Batalha and Mafra, with its monuments, the National Nature Reserve of Berlengas Island. The Holy Shrine of Fatima is only 94 kilometers (59 miles) away. Down south are Lisbon and Sintra with their palaces, castles, galleries, festivals and wonderful shopping centers, only about 85 kilometers (53 miles) away by motorway. Along the way many restaurants are to be found to allow guests to enjoy the famous Portuguese, as well as international cuisines. Guest access Guests have full access to the property, including the house, gardens, terrace and private pool which is set in a walled quarter and has all the privacy. Other things to note The Municipal Tourist Tax is applied to all guests staying overnight in establishments located in the Municipality of Óbidos. The value is 1 euro, per person and per night, for all guests over the age of 13. The tax must be payed during check-in.
