Nearly 150 years old, this historic bank is located in downtown Bennington, KS. This historic building located in downtown Bennington, KS became one of the first chartered banks in the state in 1887. Known as The Bennington Banking Company, it was initially owned and operated by Christian Nelson, one of the initial founders of Bennington. Its address on main street now bears his name. Nelson owned the business until 1945 when it was sold and became The Bennington State Bank. Today the bank still retains its original functioning vault and pressed tin ceilings. With its recent renovation it’s now a unique and comfortable space to spend time with family and friends.
