Springstead Retreat sits on 10 private acres, offering a peaceful mountain escape with room to gather, explore, and slow down. More than a century ago, early settlers chose this very spot to rest their wagons, drawn by the natural artesian spring just behind the home. That history still lives on today and gives the property its unique sense of place. One of the most loved features, especially by kids is the hidden upstairs passage, where original newspapers from the 1920s, once used as wallpaper, remain tucked away like a secret from the past. Guests interested in local history can also enjoy the book Undaunted, which tells the story of the grandmother of the gentleman from whom we purchased the property and her remarkable journey to this land. Located just over an hour from Grand Teton National Park and Jackson Hole, and close to winter ski areas, Springstead Retreat is perfectly positioned for both relaxation and adventure. Golf, hiking, fishing, and water activities are all nearby. Important Notes Cooling: This home does not have air conditioning, which is common in the area. The home stays naturally cool with Wyoming’s mountain breezes open windows at night and lower shades during the day. Fans are provided as needed. Winter Travel: 4-wheel drive and snow tires are strongly recommended during snowy conditions. There are two large trees in the backyard that resemble something out of Narnia, which children love to climb, as well as a natural spring located in the field. Guest access Your retreat includes the entire Main house, front and back yards, Master balcony, front porch, back deck, & if here in the winter, your horses & snowmobiles are more than welcome to the remainder of the 10- acres at additional expense. The fence on the West, and tree line to the North are the boundaries. Though you may see wildlife, No hunting on property is permitted. Feel free to park in the front driveway, street, & if needed, use the driveway on the left(west) side of home to park a couple vehicles, just make sure DJ can get out from the shop, as the 2 story workshop to the NW ( about 75 yards away) is occupied by him, a very nice, quiet, keep to himself friend of ours. Our 1 neighboring family across the street is very nice, keeps to themselves, and helps with caretaking our property. Other things to note Additional Property Details & House Notes Large parties are welcome. Dining & Seating: The front patio and back decks are covered and well lit. The front patio offers two chairs and a small table, while the back deck includes 10 chairs and two round tables. The walk-in pantry contains a dozen folding chairs, with additional chairs and folding tables available upon request. Inside, the main dining table comfortably seats 8–10 guests, and the 10-foot breakfast bar seats 5–6. The kitchen is equipped with a restaurant-style coffee maker, allowing you to brew two full pots or one regular and one decaf at the same time. TV trays are also available in the great room for added flexibility. Sleeping Arrangements: • East Side: The primary bedroom is located on the upper east side of the home and offers added privacy, with only a nursery bedroom nearby upstairs. There is room in the primary bedroom for a pack ’n play. Spiral stairs lead to this area. A triple bunk bed is also located on the east side of the main floor. • West Side: The west side of the home includes a queen bedroom on the main floor adjacent to a full bathroom. Upstairs on the west side, you’ll find one full bed, two bunk rooms, and a loft with space for air mattresses. Two self-inflating air mattresses are provided onsite, with additional options available upon request. Extra sleeping options include the sectional sofa, a fold-down futon in the game room, and a futon in the kids’ loft. House Rule – No Glitter: To help us maintain the home for future guests, glitter, confetti, or similar decorative materials are not permitted anywhere on the property, including indoors and outdoors. As we transitioned this home from the place where we raised our children (they truly loved it here!) into a vacation rental, we stayed in many Airbnbs and thoughtfully designed Springstead Retreat with 2–3 families (depending on size) and large groups in mind.
