Barkestad - A pearl in Vesterålens havgap

Welcome to a unique holiday home in the stunning archipelago of Vesterålen. Here you can enjoy your holiday with outdoor activities such as fishing, paddling and hiking in lovely nature. Barkestad has a good harbor with a living fishing village, and the fishing has been an important business road in the area for a long time. Fishing from both land and boat is possible. You can get to the island via fast boat from Myre or Skjellfjorden - or your own/rented boat if you have this available. The space If you want an excursion, Barkestad has fast boat access with connection to the other islands in Øksnes Vestbygd and to Myre. The historic fishing village Skipnes is located on the neighboring island and of them it is possible to rent a boat, for excursions or transportation. The area is in addition an eldorado for paddlers in the summer(we have two kayaks at your disposal, with traffic on your own responsibility), and nature and the old fishing villages also attract many visitors. In the immediate vicinity of the holiday home there are many and good hiking opportunities. In summer, it is recommended to take a trip to Austringen along the old and historic Kjerreveien. There are also marked trails for small mountain peaks such as Vedberget and Nyken. For a slightly longer trip it is wonderful to go up Blåtind. A trip to the old fishing village ships are also recommended. In winter, the area is a delightful space to enjoy the sight of the special Arctic light and the northern lights dancing across the sky.
