Welcome to a unique holiday home in the amazing island kingdom of Vesterålen. Here you can enjoy your vacation with outdoor activities such as fishing, paddling and trips in wonderful nature. Barkestad has a good harbor with a lively fishing village, and fishing has long been an important industry in the area. It is possible to fish both from land and boat. You can get to the island by speedboat from Myre or Skjellfjorden - or your own/rented boat if you have this available. The space If you want an excursion, Barkestad has a speedboat connection to the other islands in Øksnes Vestbygd and to Myre. The historic fishing village Skipnes is located on the neighboring island and from there it is possible to rent a boat, for excursions or transport. The area is also an eldorado for paddlers in summer (we have two kayaks at your disposal, with travel at your own risk), and nature and the old fishing villages also attract many visitors. In the immediate vicinity of the holiday home there are many and good hiking opportunities. In summer, it is recommended to take a trip to Austringen along the old and historic road. There are also marked trails to small mountain peaks such as Vedberget and Nyken. For a slightly longer trip, it is great to go up Blåtind. A trip to the old fishing village Skipnes is also recommended. In winter, the area is a wonderful place to enjoy the sight of the special, arctic light and the northern lights dancing across the sky.
