Historic Chandler Cottage Local Host

The historic quaint Chandler Cottage, built around 1895, is in the National Historic District of Kennett Square. We are in the heart of the walkable Borough! This twin semi-detached home has been lovingly restored to reflect its early roots, while providing a cozy, intimate place to relax while visiting our quaint town. We hope you’ll fall in love with this old cottage like we have! 45 min to Philadelphia airport, 25 min to Wilmington 25 min to WCU, 6 min to Longwood, 15 min to Winterthur The space Please note this is a 2 story property and bedrooms are located on the second floor. The stairs are original to the house and while we love their charm, the steps are not for everybody :) There is free on-street parking as available directly in front of the house. We do not offer off-street parking. There is a Eufy smart lock on the front door with keyless entry features. A check in code will be sent through Airbnb messages prior to your arrival. There is a semi-covered front patio, great for coffee and people watching, outfitted with a vintage loveseat and two chairs and a bench. The cushions will only be out as requested, or during prime weather. The front door opens off the front patio into a curated living/dining room with a slipcovered sofa, two slipper chairs and a vintage coffee table. There is a 50” smart Roku TV ready for your streaming services login, as well as a few games including Uno, monopoly and connect four. There is a designer vintage console desk between the living and dining room that can be used as a work area. The house is equipped with Comcast high speed WiFi. Behind the sofa is a small vintage dining table as well as four mid-century dining chairs. Through the living is the warm kitchen featuring patterned floor tiles, shaker cabinets, butcherblock countertops and a vintage spice shelf. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans , plates, mugs, cutlery, cooking tools, spices, olive oil, Keurig K-cup coffee machine, a handful of k-cup coffee pods, a French press, a 5-cup drip coffee machine, tea, electric kettle, creamers, sugar, etc. We are constantly adding to our kitchen equipment. If there’s anything you’d like us to have ready for your stay please reach out! The stove and oven are electric and there is a dishwasher as well. We supply dish soap and a handful of dishwasher pods. The freezer has an ice maker and the fridge has a Brita filtered water pitcher. Through the kitchen is a small covered porch with glass table seating, and three chairs. On the second floor there is one king bedroom, one queen bedroom and an office with a standard twin sized daybed. The primary king bedroom features one closet, two vintage dressers, a memory foam mattress, designer pillows, luxury cotton linens, and a nice thick wool rug. The queen bedroom has a Zinus Green Tea memory foam mattress, luxury cotton linens, designer pillows, a closet and a vintage dresser. All bedrooms have overhead ceiling fans. There is one shared hall bathroom on the second floor featuring an oversized single sink vanity, designer fixtures, a fully tiled walk-in shower, NATIVE shampoo, conditioner and body wash, Cottonelle toilet paper and plenty of fluffy towels. The house is located 1 block off the Main Street in the borough. While we love its walkable location, being in the heart of town does come with street noise. We are very close to the new $20M library and within easy walking distance to the main restaurants and shops. Street noise is to be expected. You are right in town. Please-no cats allowed (I have an allergy!). Dogs are OK with notice and an additional pet fee. If bringing a dog, please make sure you have it on your reservation and the pet fee will be automatically added. We have a large yard, however, the yard is not fenced in. No smoking/vaping on the property, no parties without permission and no more than 4 people allowed on the property at any given time. Guest access Guests have access to the full house, with the exception of one small owner's closet in the living room. There is a washer and dryer in the unfinished basement for guest use. Laundry detergent, dryer sheets and a drying rack are provided for guest’s use. Please do not allow children in the basement for safety reasons. Other things to note This is a historic home that has quirks a new home would not have. The stairs to the 2nd floor are irregular (as with most historic homes). We do have a washer and dryer in the unfinished basement and supply detergent and dryer sheets. The stairs to the basement are quirky as well. We are right in town and walkable to everything. Street noise is to be expected.
