This is a place well-suited for those who love a blend of small farm/homestead life and wilderness quiet. You might meet our sheep, ducks, or chickens, or spot deer or wild turkeys in the Forest. The many gardens and greenhouses are always changing with the seasons, and we’re happy to provide tours of our farm to visitors during their stay. And just 45 minutes away, North Bay offers many restaurants, an additional museum, boating & fishing on Lake Nipissing, and stunning views of the sunset from its shore. Come any time of the year for a night, a weekend, or longer, and let the forest reset your pace. We’re also 45 and 30 minutes from the famous Screaming Heads in Burk’s Falls and Crystal Caves in South River. Just 45 minutes away, North Bay offers many restaurants, museums, Lake Nipissing views, boating, and fishing. Come for a weekend or linger longer — this site combines the comforts of a trailer with the beauty and freedom of camping in the Forest. Guest access Guests are welcome to enjoy their booked space — whether it’s a tent trailer, the Nature Centre guest room, or a tent site. Around the main home, you’re invited to wander past the outer gardens, through the corn maze, and near the flower beds located by our Farmstand (please don’t harvest flowers, fruits, vegetables or herbs unless part of a guided Gardening or Foraging workshop). Our trails wander through the Forest and down to the Waterfall. The water can be cold, but braver Guests are most welcome to take a careful Summer or Fall plunge at the base of the Waterfall - NOT at the top, please! (And not in the Spring, when the water is flowing far too fast!) Livestock may be viewed from a distance, as they are mostly protected by electric fencing. For a closer look, guests can book a “Meet the Animals” tour. Please don't try to pet, feed or otherwise interact with our livestock on your own. The composting outhouse is a short walk from all stay areas, located near our Forest School site. Guests may visit and view the site but campfires there are not permitted, unless while participating in an adult, child or family Nature/Forest-school style program. Each stay has its own fire ring for safe use, and local firewood is available for purchase (outside of fire bans). Please keep your vehicles in the designated parking area, just to the right or left of the green gates by the highway entrance. We have a wagon stored in our covered tractor shelter which you can use for transporting your items to your site. Other things to note This is a working farm with animals, gardens, and ongoing projects — you may notice activity around the property during your stay. Wildlife is part of the experience. Please store food properly and keep it sealed to avoid attracting curious visitors (including bears). The property gets very dark at night — perfect for stargazing, but you will want to bring a flashlight or headlamp for moving around after sunset. We have no cell reception at the property, though Wi-Fi is available at your stay (within a certain range from the main home). Bug protection is recommended in summer months, and we have Bug Shirts available for loan at a small rate and with a damage deposit. To protect pollinators and the health of our Wetland areas, permethrin/Thermacell products are not permitted on the property. You may hear roosters, hens, or sheep during your stay — part of the farm experience! Trails and outdoor areas can be muddy in spring or after rain. Please bring appropriate footwear. We’re 15 minutes to the closest general store, and half an hour to the nearest grocery/LCBO. It’s a good idea to stock up before you arrive. We have many add-on offerings available, including Foraging Walks, Guided Forest Therapy Sessions, Forest/Nature School style programs, Skill-Based Workshops, and meal service. Just reach out if you would like to learn more/book any sessions. Our Farmstand is also stocked with much of the products we create, including wild and home-grown preserves, wild jellies and jams, wild syrups and teas, medicinal salves, home-grown and dried herbs, and more. Our daughter also grows an abundance of Flowers for her main homeschool project - her own entrepreneurial adventure. You may request a bouquet for your stay or to take home, if you would like.
