Description

Enjoy a private getaway for 2 with wood-burning stove (MUST bring firewood), indoor dining/cooking area with 2-burner propane stove (propane provided), sleeping loft, outdoor sitting area with propane gas grill. NO electricity or running water. Outdoor shower stall with two 5-gallon solar heated shower bags. Bring towels. Outhouse nearby. Bring food & ice. Well water provided from spigot at main cabin. Cot available UPON REQUEST in advance - prior arrival. NO CAMPFIRES OR USE OF ANY FIREPITS. The space NO OPEN FIRES OF ANY KIND ARE ALLOWED ON THIS PROPERTY. This includes propane/wood/camp/fire pit/chiminea/metal/etc. due to Colorado's extreme wildfire danger. Just like camping - only better! No tent to set up. Get away from it all in this quaint little one-room cabin (8' x 10') nestled in the woods on 8.5 acres just outside the Indian Peaks Wilderness and Brainard Lake Recreation Area in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Only a short scenic drive from Boulder, this tiny house sits at approximately 9,500 feet elevation and is a perfect base camp for a weekend of snowshoeing and skiing (winter months) or hiking/biking (summer months). It is located off of Brainard Lake Road. For winter access 4-wheel drive REQUIRED. During the winter, parking is near the entrance to our property (closer to the main cabin) and guests need to hike, snowshoe or ski in the remaining 100 yards. You will need to backpack or sled your gear/supplies into this little cabin. We have two black plastic sleds available for you to transport your stuff, as well as two pairs of snowshoes, free of charge. Play all day in Indian Peaks Wilderness, Brainard Lake Recreation Area, Estes Park, Rocky Mountain National Park or any of the dozens of nearby attractions and then retire to this peaceful little haven where you will enjoy the wood burning stove's warmth and a pot of tea or glass of wine as you relax, journal, read, write, paint or just daydream. In the warmer months enjoy the intimate outdoor “living area” including cushioned Adirondack chairs and solar lighting. Stargazing is awesome here! Cook out on the grill and enjoy dining outdoors at the huge rustic table with stumps and stools for seating. Our fire pit is currently off limits. We are not permitting ANY outdoor campfires on our property at this time. This knotty-pine interior cabin is heated by an indoor wood-burning stove only -- but it gets REALLY warm! Please be sure to crack a window for proper ventilation. YOU MUST BUY AND BRING YOUR OWN BUNDLES OF FIREWOOD. Please buy and bring with you a small bundle or two of locally-cut firewood for the wood-burning stove -- available at most grocery stores, Walmarts and some gas stations. Our firewood supply is very limited. The cabin has a small cooking area with a 2-burner propane stove and a well-equipped galley. There are pots, pans, a tea kettle, cooking utensils, cups, bowls, plates, silverware, knives, wineglasses, bottle & can & wine openers. There are paper towels, dish cloths, and cleaning supplies. We have complimentary tea and hot chocolate. BRING YOUR OWN COFFEE. A small convertible dining table can be retracted to provide more floor space for a cot (we have a cot available with bedding, or bring your own) or an air mattress to accommodate children and/or pets. This sleeping arrangement is in addition to the sleeping loft. Climb the ladder to the sleeping loft furnished with a full mattress (sleeps two) covered with blankets, comforters and lots of pillows. Help yourself to fresh, clean water from our deep well at the spigot at our main cabin. We provide a large blue, plastic camp-style water container. Please store the container upright as it will leak on its side. A convenient wooden outhouse is available a short distance from the little cabin. Guest access The cabin is located in the woods not far from our main larger cabin (about 100 yards) in a private wooded setting. Other things to note Please do not rely on GoogleMaps for directions. Our cabin is in the forest off of a dirt road and GoogleMaps does not recognize the road. I recommend MapQuest and will send you a link to your email and to your cell phone. NO CAMPFIRES OR USE OF ANY FIREPITS Guests are NOT to build ANY outdoor fires or fires in the fire pit on our land as Boulder County is experiencing drought conditions and high wildfire danger. Guests are NOT to bring or use ANY form of a firepit to our property (including propane, metal, chiminea, etc). There is no electricity/power, no running water, and no indoor plumbing. This tiny house is heated by wood-burning stove only (guests bring their own firewood) with battery powered lanterns for lighting. Bring headlamps, flashlights, and lanterns if you want extra lighting. There is some solar lighting on the grounds, depending on the time of year. Be prepared for potentially wildly changing weather extremes. We cannot be responsible for changing weather and road conditions. Wear or bring appropriate footwear for the season and dress in layers. There is ample wildlife in the area including deer, moose, elk, bear, bob cats, mountain lions, ground squirrels, chipmunks, birds, etc.
