Description
Airbnb’s system is pulling distance from a drive-in entrance station instead of the nearest access but we are 10 mins from Old Rag Parking. Welcome to Nel Mar Farmhouse, a quiet retreat with wide-open mountain views and over a century of family history. Built in 1908 this four-bedroom, two-bath home sits beneath Old Rag Mountain and Shenandoah National Park. The space The farmhouse carries the quiet charm of a place that’s been loved for generations. Sunlight moves through tall windows, wood floors creak softly underfoot, and every room feels calm and familiar. • Four bedrooms and two full bathrooms • Gas fireplace for cozy evenings • Well-stocked kitchen and dining area for shared meals • Front porch with rockers and open mountain views The farmhouse sits just minutes from the trailheads of Old Rag Mountain and the Shenandoah National Park boundary. Local wineries, orchards, and small-town shops are an easy drive away, but the setting itself feels worlds apart. A warm, welcoming home.. A place to rest, reconnect, and enjoy the slower pace of mountain life. Guest access You’ll have the whole farmhouse and yard to yourself. Take a walk, enjoy coffee on the porch, or unwind under the stars. Everything about the setting invites you to slow down. Other things to note Nel Mar was built in 1908 and has remained in our family ever since. The second generation once ran the local general store and post office, while tending apple and peach orchards that covered the nearby hills. Through the Great Depression, World War II, and many family milestones, this home has stood steady — a gathering place and a touchstone for generations. From the small family cemetery on the hill to the state road that bears our family name, this land holds deep roots. We’re now the fourth generation to care for it, and we’re grateful to share it with guests who appreciate a sense of history and the quiet beauty of the Virginia mountains.
