Description
Welcome to Juniper Embrace, a hideaway nestled within 38 private acres known as Viva Wilderness, surrounded by Juniper, Pinon, and meadow. Views from every window invite you to slow down, connect with nature, and find yourself. At night, enjoy clear views of the sky while listening to the owls and coyotes celebrating the night. Journal, read a book, meditate, or go for a walk on the trails and notice the sounds and smell of nature, the glimpses of wildlife, and feel the warmth of the sun. The space There are a couple of miles worth of trails through wild meadow and lush mountain forest. There are places to stop and sit, and surprises to discover. Being at 7200 feet, the nights will be chilly and the days warm through most of the year. There is an outdoor fire pit for enjoying the evening sky on a chilly evening or to make some s’mores. We request that you be mindful of the wind and not use it when it is windy. There is a wall heater in the living room for chilly nights during most of the fall months. On cooler nights, there is a wood stove available. It is important that you either have experience using a wood stove or are acceptable to the owner showing you how to operate it. Please message us any questions before booking. The water in the kitchen is filtered and comes directly from the Estancia Basin. It's delivered into a 1200-gallon underground tank, and we kindly ask for mindful water use. In addition, the house is on a septic system, and we request no flushing of paper, chemicals or anything other than bodily waste. It's a simple place meant for a simple existence. We adapt to nature rather than forcing nature to adapt to us. There is a washer and a drying rack available for hanging clothes to dry. It is secluded, yet only 20 minutes from Albuquerque and 3 miles from Cibola National Forest with miles and miles of hiking and biking trails. We invite you to reset, reflect, and realign with nature and yourself. Guest access Guests are permitted to walk the property at their own risk. Please stay on the trails and be mindful of local wildlife. Local wildlife includes coyotes, deer, rabbits, squirrels, and snakes. Bears and large cats are rare but have been seen on the property or in the area. Other things to note Animals you will see outside: Squirrels, rabbits, birds, hummingbirds, bees, mosquitoes, flies, wasps, lizards, mice, and Don Julio, the cat. Keeping the screen doors closed ensures these stay out of the house. Animals that are there but unlikely to be seen: Coyotes, owls, deer, and snakes. Stay on the trails when hiking and be aware of your footing. Animals that are rare: bears and larger cats. In seven years, we've had one bear on the property that we never saw but it did get into the chicken feed, and our game camera has caught a couple of larger cats. I have included some pictures of wildlife under the album titled "Additional Photos." Please note that we have an apiary on the 38 acres property - it is located near the owners' home and not near Juniper Embrace. The bees do enjoy the garden at Juniper Embrace, especially the catmint. We also have chickens and will leave you some fresh eggs if they are available during your stay.
