Step back in time while enjoying modern comforts at Lilac Hill, the Alfred William Morrison home, built in 1832 by Missouri’s renowned surveyor and state treasurer. This stunning two-story red brick Federal/Early Classical Revival home is one of the oldest in mid-Missouri and proudly listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The space We take pride in keeping Lilac Hill clean, comfortable, and well-maintained for every guest. Please note, however, that this is an 1832 historic home. While it offers modern amenities, some features reflect its age and unique character. Inside the Home: • Master Suite: King-size bed, private bath with walk-in shower and accessibility railings. 50' TV. Fan in closet. • Second Bedroom: Two full-size beds plus a twin bunk, with its own full bathroom. TV. Fan in closet. • Living Room: Spacious and inviting, with a pull-out sofa (ideal for early risers), 50" Sony smart TV, and plenty of seating for gathering. Fan located in laundry room. • Dining Room: A magnificent space with a table for 10, perfect for family meals or celebrations. • Sitting Room: A cozy spot to read, play games, or enjoy quiet conversations. • Kitchen: Fully equipped with gas stovetop, double ovens, air fryer, griddle, and Keurig coffee station. Historic Charm: Throughout the home you’ll find four breathtaking original fireplaces and mantels (non-operational), tall ceilings, and details that transport you back to the 19th century. Outdoors: Relax on the large front or back lawn, enjoy peaceful country views, and savor quiet mornings or golden-hour evenings sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. ***THERE IS A COTTAGE ON THIS PROPERTY THAT HAS FULL TIME RESPECTFUL TENANTS*** ***THERE IS STILL PLENTY OF PRIVACY AND PEACEFUL ATMOSPHERE. The upstairs is empty and currently not available for guests. Fireplaces: Decorative use only-PLEASE do not use Dining Room cabinets: Please do not open. Other things to note House Rules We ask all guests to respect both our home and its history. Please review the rules below before booking: General Check-in: 4:00 PM | Check-out: 10:00 AM Maximum occupancy: 8 guests No unregistered guests allowed on the property (unless preapproved by owner) Although we love our furry pets-- unfortunately they are not allowed. No smoking inside the home Events and filming: No parties, receptions, or large events are permitted No video productions, filming, or documentary projects are allowed on the property Property Care Please treat the home with care; it is a listed historic property Fireplaces are for decoration only and not operational No rearranging of large furniture Please notify us immediately of any damages or maintenance issues Children & Safety Children are welcome, but the home is historic and not child-proofed (stairs, mantels, antiques) Adult supervision is required for young children at all times Porch & Outdoor Spaces Enjoy the porches and yards respectfully—no climbing on railings or mantels Fireworks, or firearms are not allowed Note on History & Local Lore Over the years, some visitors and locals have said Lilac Hill has a “haunted” reputation. While we can’t confirm any ghostly guests, it’s all part of the rich history and character of this 1832 home. Families often find it adds a bit of fun storytelling and mystery to their stay!
