Waterfront | Kayaks, Beach & Sunsets (Cottage 1)

Wake up to the sound of waves at this cozy waterfront cottage on Hennessy Bay, just off the Ottawa River. Enjoy a large sandy beach perfect for swimming, sandcastles, fishing, and sunset views. Ideal for families, couples, or a peaceful escape. Adventure awaits with whitewater rafting, biking, and kayaking just 25 minutes away. Conveniently located 30 minutes from Pembroke and 1.5 hours from Ottawa. Relax, recharge, and reconnect by the water. The space You will have access to Cottage #1, a deck, shallow water entry, and an abundance of sand. There are three bedrooms, one king bed, one double bed, and three single beds, living room, small kitchen, eating area, and a full bathroom. Basic cooking necessities are provided. Beach toys, kayak and loungers provided. Please feel free to bring your own beach chairs, towels, beach toys, paddle board, boat (we do not have a dock, but a boat launch is 20 minutes away). Bring water shoes- there are some clams in the water, bug spray, sunscreen. Guest access You will have full access to the cottage, including three bedrooms, one full bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen, and a comfortable living room. Enjoy WiFi, 1–2 kayaks, life jackets, and two beach chairs for your stay. Please note that one room is locked and not accessible to guests. Other things to note Important Information About Your Stay Cottage Property This cottage is one of three cottages located side-by-side on the property. You are renting one cottage only. Each cottage is rented separately and may be occupied by other guests during your stay. Each cottage is situated on approximately half an acre and shares access to 424 feet of beautiful beachfront. There are neighbors on each side, please keep noise to a minimum, clean up after yourself when on the beach and water. This is NOT meant for parties, or large gatherings. We do not allow visitors or day guests. Air Conditioning Our cottage is equipped with a ductless air conditioning system (also known as a mini-split) located in the main living area only. Unlike a traditional central air system, this unit cools the cottage directly from the wall-mounted unit. A ceiling fan is located in the living area, and portable fans are provided for each bedroom to help keep you comfortable during your stay. Water Supply Our cottages operate on a private well system. Water pressure may occasionally be lower than city water, particularly during periods of high demand. Please help us conserve water by: • Taking reasonable-length showers • Turning off taps when not in use • Avoiding running multiple water-intensive appliances simultaneously Your cooperation helps ensure a comfortable experience for all guests. Septic System Our property is serviced by a private septic system. To avoid plumbing issues and costly repairs, please flush toilet paper only. Do NOT flush: • Wipes (including those labeled "flushable") • Feminine hygiene products • Paper towels or tissues • Cotton swabs or cotton balls • Diapers • Food, grease, or any foreign objects Thank you for helping us protect the septic system. IMPORTANT: You Are Staying in Nature Our cottages are located directly on the beach and surrounded by forest. While this setting is beautiful, it also means you will experience nature in all its forms. Please expect mosquitoes, black flies, ticks, spiders, snakes, mice, raccoons, squirrels, birds, and other insects and wildlife. We cannot control the natural environment, and refunds will not be provided due to bugs, insects, wildlife, weather conditions, or other natural occurrences. To help make your stay more enjoyable: • Bring and use insect repellent • Check yourself, children, and pets for ticks daily • Keep doors and windows closed whenever possible • Do not leave food, drinks, or garbage outside • Store all food securely indoors • Be aware of your surroundings when walking through wooded or grassy areas If you are uncomfortable with bugs, wildlife, or natural outdoor conditions, a beachfront cottage in a forest setting may not be the best fit for your vacation expectations. Nature is part of the cottage experience. Waterfront Safety All water activities are undertaken at your own risk. There are no lifeguards on duty. Children must be supervised at all times near the water. We strongly recommend bringing and wearing properly fitted personal flotation devices (PFDs) while enjoying the waterfront. Nearby Amenities For essentials, Kenny's Store in Westmeath offers basic groceries, including bread, eggs, snacks, beverages, and some prepared foods. Please check their operating hours before visiting. For larger grocery stores, restaurants, pharmacies, and medical services, Pembroke is approximately 30 minutes away and offers a full range of amenities, including Walmart, Metro, and the local hospital.
