Ambrose School House

Stay in history at The Ambrose Schoolhouse, a 1917 two-room concrete schoolhouse turned cozy retreat. Ring the old school bell, relax on a handmade Murphy bed, or gather in the big room with a 60” Roku TV & vintage rocking chairs. Kids love the merry-go-round, swingset, and ample space for blanket forts, while adults enjoy the cast iron stoves, fire pit, and cozy vintage touches! Each stay comes with fresh baked goodies from Hubanks Homestead, & fresh eggs when our girls are laying! The space The Space Sleeping arrangements: The former primary grades classroom now serves as a cozy bedroom with one handmade king Murphy bed (crafted by our daddy), one antique iron queen bed, a reclining love seat, electric fireplace, and flat-scree TV. A Roku allows guests to stream their favorite tv shows & movies! Living & dining: The larger upper grades classroom has been opened into a spacious gathering area, complete with a 60” Roku TV with Dish Network, vintage rocking chairs, the original wooden stage, and plenty of room for air mattresses or even blanket forts. Entertainment: Board games, corn hole, and a poker table topper available for game nights. A vintage piano and original church pews offer authentic schoolhouse charm. Kitchen: Vintage gas cook stove and modern conveniences like a Keurig (with starter pods), air fryer, microwave, refrigerator, blender, crock pots, electric can opener, pots/pans, dishes, cutlery, and dish soap. Laundry & Linens: Washer and dryer available, with a small bottle of laundry detergent and dryer sheets provided. Fresh sheets, pillow cases, towels, hand towels, and wash cloths are also included. Heating & Cooling: Modern mini-split units, a fan, plus cast iron wood-burning stoves (with firewood provided). Bathrooms:
 Full bath with walk-in shower (ADA accessible). Half bath located beside the stage (3–4 steps to access). Complimentary shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, and hair dryer, plus two rolls of toilet paper per bathroom. Historic features: Original stage, roof-mounted school bell, tall windows, authentic church pews still used as seating, and a vintage piano — a true piece of schoolhouse history. Fire pit with provided firewood bundles. Basketball goal for a quick game. Outdoor BBQ grill for cooking under the open sky. Outdoor seating: bench, picnic table, and chairs under the big tree. Deer from the neighboring high-fence property sometimes come right up to the fence — a special treat for guests to watch. Guests who wish, may enjoy hearing his firsthand stories about life in Ambrose and what the school was like in the 1940s and 50s. Arrangements can be made for your private history lesson by reaching out to Megan or Sadie! The piano is a true piece of schoolhouse history; while not perfectly tuned, it’s always ready for a song or two. The handmade Murphy bed, antique iron bed, original church pews, and vintage rocking chairs add both authenticity and charm to the space. Deer from the neighboring high-fence property sometimes come right up to the fence — a special treat for guests to see. On weekdays (Monday–Friday, roughly 4:00 AM to 4:00 PM), trucks from a nearby sand plant travel in front of the schoolhouse. While you may notice 18-wheelers passing during the day, evenings and weekends are quiet and peaceful. The schoolhouse combines historic character with modern amenities, making it comfortable for both short and long stays. Guest access Guests have access to the entire Schoolhouse!
