The space Summertime: Listen to Red Creek, crickets and peepers at the pond, while watching fireflies in the woods at night on the back porch - the road is whisper quiet by dinner time! Winter: Wake up on powder days to be at Whitegrass, Timberline or Canaan Valley Ski Areas within 10 minutes. Bonus: lower elevation means less snow on your car! Fall: Absolutely stunning leaf peeping - from both porches. Peepers, fun local festivals, and excellent hiking and biking conditions. Spring: High water levels mean perfect boating on all the forks of the cheat - including the Dryfork and Red Creek, which you can see from the porch before the leaves come on. A main highlight of this listing is the convenience of the incredible outdoor offerings in the Monongahela National Forest. The house is alongside Appalachian Highway - Rt 32 - a beautiful drive and a registered scenic highway, making it easy to get in and out on your adventure days: a well-maintained and plowed road is steps from your car on powder days! Fun fact: this family home was built by the folks we bought it from - three of the current neighbors were born and raised here! Upstairs, there are four simple bedrooms and one full bathroom: two queen rooms, a double room, and a room with two twins (one frame bed, one futon). Downstairs, the front door opens into a foyer and the main part of the house, which includes a living room, dining room, equipped kitchen, and half-bath with washer/dryer. It is also connected to the in-law suite, which includes a king bed, a full bath with a walk-in shower, and a piano. Kitchen is equipped and has a bistro-table for two. The dining room seats 6. The living room has an L-couch, plus a wing-back chair and a small side couch, which is a futon (not listed in beds). The driveway can park at least 4 cars. It's on a scenic highway, and yet the street is remarkably quiet after dark and overnight. There is a small side porch off the in-law suite, and a back porch off a sliding back door. Sunrise is beautiful from the side porch, and you can see Red Creek from the back porch when the leaves are down in the winter. No TV's (which we think is a plus!), but there is wifi if you'd like to bring your own devices for streaming. Please do ask if you have questions! We have loved hosting at our farm but have not done so since 2020. We are just getting back into the swing with this spot, and hope you enjoy it as much as we have! Guest access You are booking for all five bedrooms, so you have full access to the 2.5 baths, laundry facilities, kitchen, both patios, etc. The basement and some closets are kept locked. Other things to note A few important notes before booking: - There are beehives on the neighboring parcel (a stones throw from the side porch). We haven't had any guests bothered by this - most love that we're a bee-friendly house! - but if you're allergic to bees, we hope you travel with an EPIPen - hospitals are quite a distance from here. - Cell service is limited in this entire region. We have a booster, which helps for most service providers, but we can't guarantee you will have cell coverage in all places of the house. Wi-Fi signal is Starlink and is strong and very reliable. - The house is not updated, and there are are some cosmetic issues that we are working to upgrade - which is part of what makes this house so affordable for the area! We're nothing fancy, but instead a delightfully cozy home, great for making memories :) - Lastly, this is a country home, meaning you are likely to encounter wildlife outside... and sometimes inside! We encourage you to keep the doors and windows closed to keep bugs, birds, and other creatures outside, where we can appreciate them from a distance. Please send a message if you have any questions about this listing or the area!
