The space I had no intention of starting a short term rental when I purchased the house and other 3 buildings on the property because of its close proximity to the railroad tracks that run through the middle of Amherst. As we worked to clean and remodel the property and house, I came to the conclusion that the train was not that disturbing. The Depot House was born and so far all guests have said the location, cleanliness, and amenities have far out wayed any disturbance from the train. Literally every house in Amherst is in close proximity to the train. I would recommend that a light sleeper stays in the front bedrooms facing the road.
