Cozy School Bus * City Glamping

Meet "Barb", our bus which we renovated ourselves and was our home for 4 years during grad school. We are excited to share our bus with you while you spend some time in Jacksonville's Old City Urban Core. When staying in Barb you are only blocks away from some of the best restaurants and bars in Jax including two speakeasys, a brewery, and the best bakery in the city. The space Barb is the perfect spot for you to unplug and relax. We have an outdoor table and chairs for you to enjoy a cup of coffee or a little sunshine. If you feel like getting out for a bit, Edgewood Ave is only a short walk or drive away (0.5mi/12min walk) and has plenty of coffee, restaurants, and bars/breweries to take in the local experience. Barb is 240 sq ft of pure love. We built her ourselves, and loved the joy and experience of tiny living. She's simple, and unique, but has everything a normal house or apartment could offer you. However, we like to think she has just that extra splash of charm. She was a dream that we created, made it happen, lived it up... and now for this next chapter we are so excited to share something that means so much to us with all of you! So if you're looking for an adventure, come give skoolie living a try! Guest access Barb is located in her own side yard to the left of the house. You are welcome to park on the street, and we will make sure to leave the spot right in front of the house available for your use. To the left of the house will is a lit pathway leading you back to Barb's front door. The door has a coded lock which we will send your way once the booking is confirmed. We ask that you please do not enter the gate that leads to the backyard. Our pups freely use this space and the gate does not always shut properly. Other things to note Remember... Barb is a bus! With being a bus she of course has some quirks. To our tall friends of the world, you may need to duck a bit depending on how tall you are. For reference, our friends that are 5'10 brush the hairs on the top of their heads on the AC vent. We promise to do everything to make sure you feel so at home during your stay. After all, our bus es su bus! We have poured a lot of love and goodness into Barb to make her feel like a cozy little apartment, but at the end of the day... she is still a bus with lots of windows! Feel free to close the curtains for privacy or open them wide to let in the sun. We just ask that the front windows by the dashboard and driver's seat remain closed. This is Florida and you may infrequently encounter spiders or bugs during your stay. We do spray but on rare occasions they find their way inside. While we do have a full bathroom complete with toilet and shower, the toilet is a composting toilet**. This just means there are a couple extra steps. There are instructions for easy use that are listed next to it for those who aren't as accustomed to this. While we do have a gas oven/stove, the gas is not connected for the safety of our guests. We have provided an induction hot plate for your use for any cooking you may want to do. Just plug it in and get to cookin'! Side note: If you see a two good looking dogs trotting around it's our Golden Retriever "Hinckley", and our Golden Doodle "Colby". They have their own fenced in yard, so you won't encounter them directly. While they are both the absolute friendliest, they can have some big barks when excited when they see you through the fence.
