This 3 BR/2BA house is just 75 steps from the beach and a short walk or bike ride (five bikes for your use!) to the village center (Centro). Chelem is five kilometers from the port city of Progreso and 35 kilometers from the Yucatan capital city, Merida. Take a dip in the pool and lounge on the pool terraza or house balcony with an afternoon beverage. Enjoy pescado frito (fried fish), ceviches, and Mayan food specialties at a variety of local restaurants, or cook up a great meal in the full kitchen using ingredients from the local market, panaderia and tortilleria. Fully furnished for your vacation visit or long-term stay. All rooms in Casa Kaana have fans and the three bedrooms each have air conditioning. There is also a separate second floor entrance to the wraparound balcony. The pool and deck are accessed from both the kitchen and Twin bedroom. The pool is 9’ x 15’ and 5’ deep. There are four bar stools in the pool. The enclosed backyard also has seven coconut trees and room for parking. All of the house is available to guests except one small storage room. Chelem is small fishing village and pretty quiet most of the year. In July, August, and around the Easter holiday the population can triple or quadruple in size as everyone in Merida comes to the beach. There are many small shops for everything from tortillas to daily food to hardware. We usually shop right around breakfast time before the heat of the day. Combis--frequent vans that run from Chelem to Progreso and Chuburna are available on the main road one block from the house. Additionally, combis and taxis are available in the town square one kilometer from the house. You can also phone a taxi to arrange for pickup.
