Some of Whitby's most appealing attributes are the winding streets and hidden alleys, as well as its pretty harbour and lovely beaches. The most famous attraction in Whitby is the cliff top ruins of Whitby Abbey, built in the 13th century, which is reached by its well known 199 steps. Other attractions in Whitby are Captain Cook Memorial Museum, the scary Dracula Experience, Whitby Museum and the beautiful Pennett Park. Further afield, are the stunning North York Moors and the seaside villages and towns of Robin Hoods Bay, Staithes and Scarborough. Whitby is a perfect town and area all year round.
