Kirkwall. Large single/small double with breakfast

Our large family home is situated in a quiet residential part of Kirkwall so you can be assured of a restful sleep. We are a 5-10 minute walk from the town centre with its unique local shops and cafes, St Magnus Cathedral, Earls Palace and museum. For the whisky lovers we are a short walk from the famous Highland Park Distillery. We are a 5 minute walk from the new Balfour Hospital and Health Centre complex. We love meeting people and welcome guests from all backgrounds into our home. The space This lovely bright bedroom offers one queen size bed (3/4 size bed) - which is 6 inches narrower than a standard double. Perfect for the single traveler (but cozy for 2) Please be aware of this when booking! The bathroom is not en-suite but is just outside your room door. Our own living area and bathroom downstairs away from guest accommodation. We offer a basic ‘Welcome’ breakfast using fantastic local produce where possible and our guests are loving it! It typically includes fresh bread (there is a toaster and kettle in each room) with a choice of condiments, Orkney cheese, a choice of cereals with Orkney milk and apple / orange juice. There is a selection of tea, coffee, fruit teas and hot chocolate. If you have any special dietary requirements please advise at time of booking and we will do our utmost to accomodate you. You will find spare towels in the unit on the landing with extra bedding and a blanket in the large wardrobe in your room. There is an ironing board and iron provided outside your room. There is a safe off-road parking space in front of the house. Due to work commitments, we may not be around for much of your stay, but where possible, we aim to be here to greet you on your arrival and to say cheerio on your departure. We look forward to meeting you. Guest access You will have access to a large shared bathroom with a bath and shower - guests have sole use of this as we use a separate bathroom downstairs. We have another guest room across the landing and separated by the breakfast area. Shed available in the garden to store bikes and hiking gear etc. During your stay We believe in giving guests space but we are very approachable when we are at home, which varies due to work commitments. Other things to note We have ax2 very friendly cats who may take the opportunity of an open room door to come and visit you, Jaffa is just being nosey and checking to see if you have Dreamies (cat treats) for him! Tilly is our young female puss who is just learning to not invade guests space. If they enter your room, please inform us and we will gently evict them from your room.
